If you\u2019ve placed the wrong order or even just changed your mind, we\u2019ll show you how to cancel it and make sure you get your money back.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_General_Rules_of_Amazon_Refunds\"><\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" name=\"autotoc_anchor_0\">The General Rules of Amazon Refunds<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Before we get into cancelling, we\u2019ll look at how Amazon typically deals with cancellations across the various stages of an order.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019ve just placed your order in the last 20 minutes or even hour, it\u2019s possible that Amazon hasn\u2019t started processing it yet. The company doesn\u2019t charge your payment method until it ships your item, so as long as you cancel before it ships, you shouldn\u2019t have to worry about being charged.<\/p>\n<p>Once your order begins processing, Amazon will inform you that it can\u2019t guarantee that your order can be cancelled. You can try to cancel an order, and this is often still successful, but it\u2019s possible that your order will ship.<\/p>\n<p>After an order has shipped, you can\u2019t cancel it any longer. Don\u2019t worry, though, you can still return it. If your box is unopened, it\u2019s even easier, but even if you\u2019ve opened it, in most cases you can return the items to Amazon for a full refund.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_to_Cancel_an_Amazon_Order_That_Hasnt_Shipped\"><\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" name=\"autotoc_anchor_1\">How to Cancel an Amazon Order That Hasn\u2019t Shipped<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>As mentioned above, if your order hasn\u2019t shipped or is still in the process of shipping, you can usually cancel before you\u2019re charged. If Amazon has already placed a hold on your card, it should disappear after your order is successfully cancelled.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Cancel_an_Amazon_Order_on_Your_Computer\"><\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" name=\"autotoc_anchor_2\">Cancel an Amazon Order on Your Computer<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Open the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com?tag=hotoge-20\">Amazon website<\/a> in the browser of your choice. If you aren\u2019t signed in already, click the button labeled \u201cHello, Sign in\u201d to sign in to your account. Once you find it, click the \u201cCancel items\u201d button on the right side. Whether an item arrives damaged, you get the wrong item, or you just decide you don\u2019t want the order by the time it arrives, in most case, you can return the items for a full refund.<\/p>\n<p>To get started, head to your <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/your-orders?tag=hotoge-20\">Amazon orders page<\/a> on the web or in the Amazon app. Find the order you wish to return. On a computer, click the \u201cReturn or Replace Items\u201d button. Now click or tap the \u201cContinue\u201d button. On the next page, select how you want to receive the refund. Once this is finished, you\u2019ll have a window in which to return your items for a full refund.<\/p>\n<p>Note that Amazon offers a return window that closes roughly one month after the initial purchase, so if you want to return items, you\u2019ll need to act fairly quickly.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_About_Digital_Orders_and_Rentals\"><\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" name=\"autotoc_anchor_5\">What About Digital Orders and Rentals?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Things work differently with digital purchases compared to physical goods. In most cases, you can cancel any accidental purchases and easily get a refund. If you intentionally purchased a book, movie, or another digital item, and you\u2019re not happy with it, you\u2019re probably not able to get a refund.<\/p>\n<p>To get a refund on an accidental digital purchase, go to the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/your-orders?tag=hotoge-20\">Your Orders<\/a> page on Amazon, either on your computer or on a mobile device. If you can\u2019t cancel the item, it means you\u2019re outside the return window. Your best bet here would be to contact customer service.
