\n Spyglass Media<\/a> Group has teamed with Atomic Monster\u2019s James Wan and Michael Clear to develop a film based on the 1980s classic action series<\/a> \u201cKnight Rider.\u201d TJ Fixman, a former video game<\/a> writer, is adapting the screenplay.<\/p>\n

Created by Glen A. Larson, \u201cKnight Rider\u201d first aired on NBC from 1982 to 1986 and is credited for launching David Hasselhoff\u2019s career. It\u2019s about a smart car named KITT that assists its mysterious crime-fighting driver, Michael Knight (Hasselhoff).<\/p>\n

The series amassed a significant cult following and created more TV spinoffs, films, video games, books, and a \u201cKnight Rider\u201d convention known as KnightCon.<\/p>\n

Plot details for this latest installment are being kept under wraps, but we hear it will be a present-day take that will maintain the anti-establishment tone of the original.<\/p>\n

Judson Scott will serve as executive producer.<\/p>\n

As a video game scribe, Fixman wrote and developed \u201cRatchet and Clank and Resistance: Fall of Man.\u201d On the film side, Fixman has sold a number of script<\/a>s including \u201cOne Night On the Hudson\u201d to Universal Pictures, \u201cBrotherhood of Magic\u201d to MGM, and \u201cMen Who Kill\u201d to Fox with Greg Berlanti producing and Michael B. Jordan starring. Most recently, he sold his original pitch \u201cRogue\u201d to STX with David S. Goyers\u2019 Phantom Four producing and feature pitch \u201cLegacy\u201d to Village Roadshow with Phantom Four producing. Fixman is repped by Grandview and Ziffren Brittenham.<\/p>\n

Atomic Monster has upcoming \u201cMalignant\u201d for Starlight Media and Midas Innovation, \u201cThe Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It\u201d for New Line Cinema, \u201cThere\u2019s Someone Inside Your House\u201d\u00a0for Netflix, and \u201cMortal Kombat\u201d for New Line.<\/p>\n
