Eric Greitens, now a leading\u00a0Republican US Senate candidate, has accused him of physically abusing her and their children at the end of their marriage, court documents filed Monday reveal.<\/p>\n<p>Sheena Greitens alleged in the court filings that her ex-husband knocked her down, stole her phone, struck their children and threatened to commit suicide if she didn\u2019t publicly support him during the 2018 sex scandal that led to him resigning as governor.<\/p>\n<p>She made the disturbing allegations public for the first time in a sworn affidavit as part of an ongoing child custody dispute with Greitens in Missouri over their two young sons.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPrior to our divorce, during an argument in late April 2018, Eric knocked me down and confiscated my cell phone, wallet and keys so that I was unable to call for help or extricate myself and our children from our home,\u201d Sheena alleged in the filing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI became afraid for my safety and that of our children at our home, which was fairly isolated, due to Eric\u2019s unstable and coercive behavior,\u201d she added. \u201cThis behavior included physical violence toward our children, such as cuffing our then three-year-old son across the face at the dinner table in front of me and yanking him around by the hair.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/03\/greitens-abuse-08.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1024\" alt=\"Eric Greitens and his wife Sheena\" class=\"wp-image-21605202\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/03\/greitens-abuse-08.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1535 1536w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/03\/greitens-abuse-08.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all 1024w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/03\/greitens-abuse-08.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=512 512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"\/><figcaption>Sheena made the allegations public for the first time in a sworn affidavit as part of an ongoing child custody battle with Greitens.<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">AP<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Greitens\u2019 campaign manager, Dylan Johnson, dismissed the allegations as \u201ccompletely false\u201d and \u201cpolitically-motivated.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHis ex-wife is engaged in a last-ditch attempt to vindictively destroy her ex-husband,\u201d Johnson said in a statement. \u201cEric has always been a great Dad, who loves his boys and has always put them first, and that is why he is filing for full custody of his children.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Missouri Attorney <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">General<\/a> Eric Schmitt, one of Greitens\u2019 rivals, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Eric_Schmitt\/status\/1505974694687784962\">tweeted in response<\/a> to the filing: \u201cThese allegations of abuse are disgusting and sickening. As Missouri\u2019s attorney general, I know a predator when I see one, and I have fought for victims every step of the way. The behavior described in this affidavit is cause for Eric Greitens to be in prison, not on the ballot for U.S. Senate. He should end his campaign im<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>tely.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Eric and Sheena Greitens\u2019 relationship collapsed four years ago when he was accused of taking a compromising photo of his hairdresser without her consent when they were in the midst of an extramarital affair in 2015. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/03\/greitens-abuse-03.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1024\" alt=\"Eric Greitens\" class=\"wp-image-21605197\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/03\/greitens-abuse-03.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1535 1536w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/03\/greitens-abuse-03.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all 1024w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/03\/greitens-abuse-03.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=512 512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"\/><figcaption>Eric Greitens allegedly threatened his wife to support him during his 2018 sexual assault scandal. <\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">AP<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Greitens was indicted on an invasion-of-privacy charge after the photo, which showed the undressed woman blindfolded and bound, was made public in January 2018. The charge against Greitens \u2014 a former Navy SEAL and Rhodes Scholar \u2014 was later dropped by prosecutors.<\/p>\n<p>A Missouri House committee then began investigating campaign finance issues and Greitens faced a second felony charge in St. Louis where he was accused of providing his political fundraiser with the donor list of his veterans\u2019 charity.<\/p>\n<p>In the affidavit, Sheena alleged her scandal-plagued husband had admitted to her that he took the compromising photo of his mistress, but warned she could face legal trouble if she ever disclosed that fact to anyone \u2014 even her therapist. <\/p>\n<p>In the leadup to his resignation as governor in May 2018, Sheena claimed Greitens had bought a gun but refused to tell her where it was. She also alleged that he threatened to kill himself \u201cunless I provided specific public political support.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/03\/greitens-abuse-02.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1024\" alt=\"Eric Greitens\" class=\"wp-image-21605196\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/03\/greitens-abuse-02.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1535 1536w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/03\/greitens-abuse-02.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all 1024w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/03\/greitens-abuse-02.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=512 512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"\/><figcaption>Then-Missouri Republican Governor-elect Eric Greitens talks with the media along side his wife Shenna after delivering a victory speech Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2016, in Chesterfield, Mo. <\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">AP<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>His behavior had become so alarming, Sheena alleged, that on three separate occasions in February, April and May 2018, \u201cmultiple people other than myself were worried enough to intervene to limit Eric\u2019s access to firearms.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sheena claimed Greitens also threatened her\u00a0when he was trying to convince her to delete emails she had sent to her therapist seeking help.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEric threatened to accuse me of child abuse if I did not delete the emails and convince the therapist to delete them,\u201d she wrote in the affidavit, which also alleged Greitens berated her as a \u201chateful, disgusting, nasty, vicious \u2026 lying b\u2014 h\u201d as he accused her of providing information about him and his scandals to prosecutors and the media.<\/p>\n<p>Sheena further claims Greitens threatened to use his political connections and influence to destroy her reputation and gain custody of their children after their divorce was finalized in 2020.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/03\/greitens-abuse-07.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1024\" alt=\"Eric Greitens\" class=\"wp-image-21605201\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/03\/greitens-abuse-07.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1535 1536w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/03\/greitens-abuse-07.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all 1024w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/03\/greitens-abuse-07.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=512 512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"\/><figcaption>Greitens\u2019 campaign manager dismissed the allegations.<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">AP<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>While Greitens largely kept a low profile in the wake of his resignation, that changed when the Missouri Ethics Commission last year cleared him personally of any wrongdoing \u2014 despite finding probable cause that his campaign broke campaign finance law. <\/p>\n<p>Then, the once-rising GOP star announced in March last year that he would run for the Senate seat being vacated by fellow Republican Roy Blunt. <\/p>\n<p>Sheena is trying to have the custody case moved to Austin, Texas \u2014 where she now lives with her sons \u2014 in a bid to spare the children from renewed public attention in the wake of Greitens\u2019 bid for a political comeback.<\/p>\n<p>She wrote in her affidavit that Greitens\u2019 return to politics had been taxing on her and the power he would obtain as a senator was \u201cextremely intimidating.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow that Eric is a candidate for federal office, public interest in my life, my relationship with Eric and the breakdown thereof, and the existence of issues of custody between Eric and me are being re-kindled and brought back into central public discussion,\u201d Sheena wrote before urging a judge to move the matter to where \u201cthe reach of his power and influence is significantly less.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>With Post wires<\/em>\n                        <\/div>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
