On Monday (March 21), a tweet started making the rounds that read, \u201cA \u2018Friday\u2019 prequel is in the works for HBO max. Co<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>n druski and r<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>er Vince Staples are attached the lead roles.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The person who shared the tweet, @OhThatMarco, even went as far to claim Cube\u2019s son wrote the script, saying in a follow-up tweet, \u201cO\u2019Shea Jackson Jr. the writer of the script says the Movie will go into production this sometime summer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cube, who played Craig Jones in the <em>Friday<\/em> film franchise, re-shared the tweet and wrote, \u201cThis is blasphemy,\u201d a strong indication the rumor is completely fabricated.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">This is blasphemy. <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Oj69BeBBdw\">https:\/\/t.co\/Oj69BeBBdw<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Ice Cube (@icecube) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/icecube\/status\/1506043198124158978?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 21, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The origina<em>l Friday<\/em> film arrived in 1995 and starred Ice Cube, Chris Tucker as Smokey, John Witherspoon as Pops and Tiny Lister as Deebo in addition to several other colorful characters. The sleeper hit netted two sequels,\u00a0<i>Next Friday<\/i>\u00a0(2000) and\u00a0<i>Friday After Next<\/i>\u00a0(2002), both of which found success at the box office.<\/p>\n<p>But 20 years later, the fourth <em>Friday<\/em> film \u2014 which was tentatively titled <em>Last Friday<\/em> \u2014 has yet to come to fruition. Not only have Witherspoon, Lister and A.J. Johnson (who portrayed lovable crackhead Ezal) all passed away, but Ice Cube was also having trouble getting the film finished.<\/p>\n<p>During Witherspoon\u2019s funeral\u00a0in November 2019, the N.W.A legend apologized for not making the film prior to Witherspoon\u2019s passing and explained why it hasn\u2019t happened.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI really apologize to my friend for not getting the next\u00a0<em>Friday<\/em>\u00a0movie made,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s not my fault. Some dumbass people in Hollywood at New Line Cinema, if you wanna \u2026 you can email Toby Emmerich and Richard Brener if you feel like I feel. Yeah, you punks had two scripts and you didn\u2019t wanna do them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s the real. We were tryin\u2019 to make that movie for years and we couldn\u2019t get it done.
