However, regulators and lawmakers may want consider how to encourage digital innovation, as China is already &#8220;massively tech forward&#8221; for its residents.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to Cointelegraph during Austin\u2019s SXSW festival, Warren said that though she believed China\u2019s digital yuan was unlikely to significantly affect retail payments in the United States, the adoption of the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a> surrounding it could impact the dollar\u2019s global dominance. The CCI CEO added that the Federal Reserve could make a &#8220;strong move&#8221; in preserving the dollar\u2019s role by introducing a central bank digital currency with wholesale use cases. However, China\u2019s rollout of the e-CNY might help set a standard for retail payments regardless of whether other countries adopt the digital currency.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAmerican exceptionalism is not something we can cling to anymore \u2014 not with the rise of what\u2019s h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ening in Asia, Africa, and around the globe.\u201d said Warren. &#8220;Innovation is going to flow to where it can thrive the most, and actively trying to block it is going to encourage it to head elsewhere.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>She added:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;These things are going to get built. The question is where do we want them to be geographically located and under what legal, regulatory, and sociocultural systems, which will prioritize certain kinds of applications and models over others.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.cointelegraph.com\/uploads\/2022-03\/df6a2e0a-9bf6-42fc-a37a-de59bd9f1357.jpeg\"><figcaption style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Sheila Warren (3rd from left) speaking at\u00a0Financial Surveillance in a Cashless Society panel at SXSW 2022<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Warren said that certain parts of the U.S. were embracing an innovation-friendly regulatory and business models, including Miami, Austin, and areas of Colorado. U.S. President Joe Biden\u2019s recent executive order establishing a regulatory framework for cryptocurrencies could be a &#8220;massive driver&#8221; of jobs and innovation, according to the CCI CEO.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We need every [U.S.] city to be embracing an innovation mindset,&#8221; said Warren. &#8220;That\u2019s what\u2019s happening in many parts of Asia, [where] every city is evaluating everything all the time.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Related: <\/em><\/strong><strong><em>Blockchain Association policy head: US shouldn&#8217;t compete with China&#8217;s CBDC using surveillance tools<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Warren explored central bank digital currencies and promoted the adoption of blockchain technology during her time at the World Economic Forum, leaving in February to become CEO of the Crypto Council for Innovation.
