He added that the government of El Salvador decided to wait for favorable conditions in the financial market, expecting September at the latest, stating:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cNow is not the time to issue the bond [&#8230;] In May or June the market variants are a little different. At the latest in September. After September, if you go out to the international market, it is difficult to raise capital.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>At the time of writing, Bitcoin is <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.coingecko.com\/en\/coins\/bitcoin\">trading<\/a> at $42,236, up around 10% over the past 30 days, according to data from CoinGecko. The cryptocurrency has lost nearly 50% of value since the Salvadoran government initially announced plans for its Bitcoin bonds in November.<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.cointelegraph.com\/uploads\/2022-03\/ee3473ff-184a-4838-83a0-268045781c1d.png\"><figcaption style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Bitcoin 180-day price chart. Source: CoinGecko<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Zelaya hinted at a potential delay of El Salvador\u2019s Bitcoin bond last week, citing the unstable political situation in the world as one of the biggest reasons for the postponement.<\/p>\n<p>As previously reported, the $1 billion bond was originally scheduled for launch in mid-March. The bond is reportedly <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/76e1293d-89fd-431a-abb4-9988b4343157\">marketed<\/a> with a 6.5% coupon and a Bitcoin dividend of 50% of the gain in the price of the cryptocurrency after five years. Half of the $1 billion expected proceeds from the issuance are set to go toward the construction of the \u201cBitcoin City,\u201d a development dedicated to geothermal energy-powered Bitcoin mining using nearby volcanoes. The rest $500 million is set to be invested directly into Bitcoin.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Related: <\/em><\/strong><strong><em>14% of Salvadoran businesses have transacted in BTC: Chamber of Commerce<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>El Salvador\u2019s delay of the Bitcoin bond launch comes amid the government <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>arently slowing down the pace of buying new BTC as well.
