TikTok<\/a> <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@techhackguy\/video\/7075688165192846598?_t=8QrBbvYSyoP&amp;_r=1\">video<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>User @techhackguy brought the feature to the attention of thousands of people, claiming that iPhones are \u201cspying on everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"what-is-iphone-significant-locations\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_is_iPhone_Significant_Locations\"><\/span>What is iPhone Significant Locations?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Your iPhone has a feature called Location Services, which uses your location to improve various features on the device.<\/p>\n<p>This includes Significant Locations, a rolling log of your real-world movements, which are then used to offer other services.<\/p>\n<p>For instance, if your iPhone knows about your daily commute, it can provide tailored timing information about your journey.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAllow your iPhone to learn places significant to you in order to provide useful location-related information in Maps, Calendar, Photos and more,\u201d <a class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>You might be panicking that Apple is keeping a log of your every move, but that\u2019s not quite the case.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSignificant Locations are encrypted and cannot be read by Apple,\u201d according to Apple.<\/p>\n<p>That means that the location info is stored on your iPhone, and is encrypted and dissociated from you if it needs to leave the device.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-tiktok wp-block-embed-tiktok\"\/>\n<p>No outsiders can see your Significant Locations, and they\u2019re not accessible through iCloud either.<\/p>\n<p>And even if a pal is using your iPhone, they can\u2019t get into Significant Locations without getting past a Face ID or Touch ID lock first.<\/p>\n<p>However, if you\u2019re really worried that a spouse might sneak their way onto your iPhone and catch you at the pub when you were supposed to be at work, it might be worth deactivating the system \u2013 or clearing your history at the very least.
