Sorry to all y\u2019all giraffes,\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@aaronf_ig\/video\/7063183631048789295\">one fella celebrated on TikTok<\/a> with a dance.<\/p>\n<p>Dubbed \u201cshort king spring\u201d on <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">social media<\/a>, single New Yorkers are looking for love for less than 5\u20198\u2033, a group who have been notoriously short-sided on dating <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>s.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnyone taller than 5\u201911\u201d no longer qualifies,\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@caliheadlee\/video\/7076931046217977131?_t=8Qp6ZLUA4QV&amp;_r=1\">one female with a tall order announced<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe love shorties,\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@catalinajimenezzz\/video\/6984231556818668805?referer_url=https%3A%2F%2Foembed.vice.com%2F&amp;referer_video_id=6984231556818668805&amp;refer=embed\">declared another lady<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The TikTok tag #<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/tag\/shortking\">ShortKing<\/a>\u00a0has more than 329 million views, with some users calling the increase in interest \u201c<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@byredofantome\/video\/7059870323159780654\">Short King Spring<\/a>.\u201d The trend is perhaps inspired by Tom Holland and Zendaya, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/i-d.vice.com\/en_uk\/article\/y3vk7x\/short-king-spring-trend\">as iD pointed out<\/a>, whose height difference \u2014 he\u2019s 5\u20198\u2033 and she\u2019s 5\u201911\u201d \u2014 doesn\u2019t deter their romance, but, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/dontreatmebadIy\/status\/1485696584856006656\">rather, breaks the internet<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Among the shorter men of Manhattan is Sam Bacherman, who clocks in at 5\u20194\u2033 \u2014 and \u201cthree-quarters\u201d \u2014 and just \u201cmakes it work.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI played sports growing up and I always wished I was taller more for sports than for dating,\u201d the 24-year-old said, adding that he\u2019s never faced rejection for his height. \u201cMost of the girls I\u2019ve dated, they don\u2019t really see height as an issue.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In fact, he\u2019s experienced the opposite. Recently, he went on a date with a taller woman, who said she \u201clikes them 5\u20196\u2033 and shorter.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignright\">\n    <\/aside>\n<p>But the playing field hasn\u2019t always been historically even, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/news\/to-your-health\/wp\/2014\/08\/27\/tall-men-have-their-pick-of-the-dating-pool\/\">according to a 2014 study<\/a> which said short men have less chance of getting married. NYC is even more brutal out the gate, since men under 5\u20199\u2033 have a 1.2% chance of matching online.<\/p>\n<p>New Yorker Matt Evenden \u2014 who is 5\u20197\u2033 or 5\u20198\u2033 depending on who you ask \u2014 has also tried his luck with women who are 5\u201910\u201d or taller, saying height has never been an issue.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cComing from someone like myself who has not dated a lot of girls who are taller than me, it was kind of weird,\u201d he said. \u201cBut after the first 15 minutes when you\u2019re on the date, it just kind of becomes OK.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-style-default\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"536\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/03\/short-king-photo-95.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=536\" alt=\"\u201cI was like, \u2018Really? This is an issue?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For those who are less picky, the \u201cshort king\u201d trend is not new.
