Here\u2019s how it works.<\/p>\n<p>You can actually remap your keys the hard way\u00a0using a Registry hack\u00a0like the one we cover for disabling your Caps Lock key. But why use the hard way, when there\u2019s an easier\u2014and free\u2014way. That\u2019s where <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/randyrants\/sharpkeys\">SharpKeys<\/a> comes into the picture. It\u2019s a small utility that manages all those Registry keys and values for you, giving you a simple interface for m<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ing one key to another\u2014or even turning keys off\u2014without you having to bother with the Registry at all.\u00a0Remapping keys is great for getting your keys working the way you want them. It\u2019s also\u00a0especially useful if you\u2019re running Windows on your Mac via Boot Camp and the Opt \/ Cmd keys don\u2019t translate correctly to the Windows and Alt keys.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ve tested SharpKeys in Windows 11, 10, 8, 7, and Vista, and it works just fine in all of them. Do note, however, that the exact keys available to you for remapping depend on your keyboard. For example, if you\u2019re using a multi<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a> keyboard with extra volume, mute, and play\/pause keys, those should show up in SharpKeys.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"admonishment_update\"><p><strong>Update:<\/strong> While SharpKeys still works well, Microsoft now offers a PowerToy you can use to remap keys, too.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Start by downloading the latest version of SharpKeys from <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/randyrants\/sharpkeys\/releases\">the project\u2019s release page<\/a>. You can download and install it by grabbing the MSI file or as a standalone app in the ZIP file. Either way, go ahead and run SharpKeys when you\u2019re ready.<\/p>\n<p>The main window shows any keys you\u2019ve already mapped. If you\u2019re starting from scratch, you won\u2019t see anything listed. The list on the left represents the key whose behavior you want to change\u2014the \u201cfrom\u201d key. The list on the right is the new behavior you want it to assume\u2014the \u201cto\u201d key. Select the key you want to remap on the left and the key to which you want to remap it on the right, and then click \u201cOK.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Here, I\u2019m changing the Scroll Lock key\u2014which I never use\u2014to act as my Caps Lock key. After that, I\u2019m going to disable the actual Caps Lock key so I\u2019ll quit hitting it by mistake. From the list on the left (the \u201cFrom\u201d key list), choose the key you want to disable.
