I\u2019ve been on TV for 40 years now, 10 [years] in <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> and then 31 years with our shows.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt would be embarrassing for me to say, \u2018Why can\u2019t I do another year or two?\u2019 I\u2019ll see how much I adjust [to retirement] and, if not, I\u2019ll do other projects \u2026 I keep getting calls, \u2018Would you consider doing this?\u2019 But, right now, I\u2019m really take a time out for the next month.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Springer continues to host<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/podcasts.apple.com\/us\/podcast\/the-jerry-springer-podcast\/id990491129\"> \u201cThe Jerry Springer Podcast\u201d <\/a>\u2014 his commentary runs as a column in the Cincinnati Enquirer (he was the city\u2019s mayor from 1977-78 and a news anchor on its NBC affiliate, WLWT, for 10 years) \u2014 and, starting next month, he will contribute to  <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2022\/tv\/global\/piers-morgan-uncensored-rupert-murdoch-meghan-markle-1235199762\/\">\u201cPiers Morgan Uncensored,\u201d<\/a> Morgan\u2019s new streaming talk show.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI may expand the podcast, because that\u2019s clearly something I have to do every week,\u201d he said. \u201cI just don\u2019t know, at this point, that I want to start a full-time job. I\u2019m not saying I won\u2019t \u2014 if some wonderful offer comes along I might say, \u2018Gosh, this would be great\u2019 \u2014 but right now I\u2019m spending as much time as possible with my grandson, Richard. He\u2019s down here [in Florida] for two weeks and then he goes to IMG, the baseball camp [in Bradenton]. He\u2019s 13 going on 20. (in the same studio as \u201cMaury,\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2022\/03\/maury-canceled-syndicated-talk-show-1234982475\/\">which also just ended its run after 31 years<\/a>). After a strong start, \u201cJudge Jerry\u201d began to run out of steam.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe first year was wonderful, and the last two years, when the pandemic hit and we weren\u2019t allowed to have an audience and couldn\u2019t have the plaintiff and defendant in the courtroom \u2026 we were trying to force something that didn\u2019t naturally flow,\u201d he said. \u201cI was talking to parties that were thousands of miles away \u2014 wherever the suits were filed was where we put the cameras \u2014 and you\u2019ve got that delay, no audience and [me] sitting in front of a green screen. It wasn\u2019t what I first imagined.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut also the reality was that I was competing against myself,\u201d he said. \u201cIn most markets they still run \u2018The Jerry Springer Show,\u2019 that\u2019s been holding on, and there\u2019s only so much of me that a normal human being can take. It was a containment issue; if I was going to be so crazy on that show, how can I suddenly be serious on the bench?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople could be well-done with me after 31 years,\u201d he said. \u201cI enjoyed doing [\u2018Judge Jerry\u2019], no question, but the industry isn\u2019t based on, \u2018Gee, are you having fun doing it?\u2019 It wasn\u2019t making the money it was making in the beginning. I totally get it. Honestly, I think what I\u2019ll miss the most are the people I was working with in Stamford. Come back!&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Springer said he knows how he\u2019ll be remembered in the history of daytime television.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf a legacy is what you\u2019re best-known for, obviously I\u2019m best-known for the crazy show,\u201d he said, alluding to \u201cThe Jerry Springer Show.\u201d \u201cIn a sense, I\u2019ve become an adjective in the English language when people say \u2018I\u2019m having a Jerry Springer moment\u2019 or when they say \u2018Don\u2019t go Jerry Springer on me now.\u2019 Everyone knows instantly what they\u2019re talking about.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe greatest job I ever had was being mayor of Cincinnati, and if God came to me and said, \u2018You can do one thing and you can do it for your lifetime,\u2019 I would have chosen that,\u201d he said. \u201cThe question with \u2018legacy\u2019 is that it\u2019s just self-indulgent \u2014 the truth is, none of us will be remembered 20 years past our lifetime for the rest of eternity, unless we were a president or someone like that. If you ask people what was the maiden name of their great-grandmother, less than 1 percent of the population will know \u2014 and that\u2019s your own family.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe important thing is to be remembered by your kids and your grandkids. If they love me and remember me and I\u2019ve been a good role model for them, that\u2019s all that matters,\u201d he said. \u201cEverything else is just conceit. It\u2019s embarrassing to say \u2018my legacy.\u2019 It\u2019s not like, 50 years from now, people are going to be talking about, \u2018Boy, thank God we had Jerry Springer.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs long as the crazy show keeps going, I\u2019ll be a part of the fabric of the memories of our culture.\u201d\n                        <\/p><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
