White House office seeks public opinion on crypto-climate implications &#8220;<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h1>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/images.cointelegraph.com\/images\/840_aHR0cHM6Ly9zMy5jb2ludGVsZWdyYXBoLmNvbS91cGxvYWRzLzIwMjItMDMvNzQ5Y2I4ZjQtODBmZC00ZDIwLWE2NTMtYzQ2MjhlNzA5OTM1LmpwZw==.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"post-content\" data-v-2a0745c6>The Office of <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/sciencee\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"5\" title=\"Science\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Science<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Technology<\/a> Policy (OSTP), an Executive Office of the President of the United States, commenced a study to identify the scope for offsetting energy use and climate changes related to digital assets.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>On March 9, United States President Joe Biden signed an executive order, directing various federal agencies to examine implications of digital assets on six key areas \u2014 consumer and investor protection, financial stability, financial inclusion, responsible innovation, the United States\u2019 global financial leadership and combating illicit financial activity.<\/p>\n<p>As a part of the initiative, the OSTP <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.federalregister.gov\/documents\/2022\/03\/25\/2022-06284\/request-for-information-on-the-energy-and-climate-implications-of-digital-assets\">invited<\/a> the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">general<\/a> public and other stakeholders to share their viewpoints on various factors that contribute to the energy use and climate impacts of all types of digital assets and cryptocurrencies.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">.<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/POTUS?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@POTUS<\/a> made clear that digital assets and cryptocurrencies must support our climate goals.<\/p>\n<p>Today, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WHOSTP?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@WHOSTP<\/a> issued a Request for Information seeking YOUR input on the energy &amp; climate implications of digital assets. According to the official notice:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cIn particular, this Right for Information (RFI) seeks comments on the protocols, hardware, resources, economics, and other factors that shape the energy use and climate impacts of all types of digital assets.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>In addition, OSTP seeks public opinion on the potential benefits of digital assets in addressing the rising energy and climate concerns.
