Tesla\u2019s factory is reportedly considered a non-essential business and is therefore required to shut down, reducing the automaker\u2019s global output by about 2,000 cars per day. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Shanghai residents are barred from leaving their homes and public transport is shut down, making the lockdown stricter than virtually any restrictions introduced in the US at any point in the pandemic.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In 2020, California health authorities ordered Tesla to shut down its Fremont factory for about two months due to the coronavirus outbreak, prompting Musk to threaten to open the factory anyway.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/03\/Tesla-Shanghai-plant-03.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1024\" alt=\"Tesla Shanghai\" class=\"wp-image-21688198\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/03\/Tesla-Shanghai-plant-03.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1535 1536w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/03\/Tesla-Shanghai-plant-03.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all 1024w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/03\/Tesla-Shanghai-plant-03.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=512 512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"\/><figcaption>Tesla\u2019s Shanghai plant is closed for four days due to government restrictions, Reuters reported. <\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">Visual China Group via Getty Ima<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In an expletive-laden rant during an April 2020 earnings call, Musk blasted stay-at-home orders as \u201cforcibly imprisoning people in their homes.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s breaking people\u2019s freedoms in ways that are horrible and wrong and not why they came to America or built this country,\u201d Musk said. \u201cWhat the f\u2013k? Excuse me. Outrage.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf somebody wants to stay in the house that\u2019s great, they should be allowed to stay in the house and they should not be compelled to leave,\u201d Musk added. \u201cBut to say that they cannot leave their house, and they will be arrested if they do, this is fascist. This is not democratic. This is not freedom. Give people back their godd\u2014n freedom.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignright\">\n    <\/aside>\n<p>But two years later, as an even stricter lockdown was imposed in Shanghai, the Tesla CEO spent Monday <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/elonmusk\/status\/1508367467269136387\">tweeting<\/a> out memes and <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/elonmusk\/status\/1508348950868217856\">criticizing<\/a> The Washington Post for having a paywall.\u00a0He also revealed Monday that he\u2019d been diagnosed with the coronavirus but was asymptomatic. <\/p>\n<p>Tesla did not im<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>tely respond to a request for comment.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As Tesla has expanded in China, Musk has shown a far greater willingness to publicly criticize American politicians than Chinese ones.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In June 2021, Musk responded to a Chinese state media Twitter account that had quoted President Xi Jinping on the 100th anniversary of the Chinese communist party taking power.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe economic prosperity that China has achieved is truly amazing, especially in infrastructure!\u201d Musk wrote in response. \u201cI encourage people to visit and see for themselves.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Six months later, Musk called US President Biden \u201ca damp [sock] puppet in human form\u201d who \u201cis treating the American public like fools\u201d after Biden didn\u2019t invite him to a White House meeting with business leaders.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Tesla also caught flak in January for opening a showroom in China\u2019s Xinjiang province \u2014 the same region where human rights groups and the Biden administration say China is committing genocide against Uighur Muslims by locking them in internment camps.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/03\/Tesla-Shanghai-plant-04.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1024\" alt=\"An aerial view of Tesla Shanghai Gigafactory at night on October 22, 2021 in Shanghai, China. \" class=\"wp-image-21688720\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/03\/Tesla-Shanghai-plant-04.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1535 1536w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/03\/Tesla-Shanghai-plant-04.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all 1024w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/03\/Tesla-Shanghai-plant-04.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=512 512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"\/><figcaption>An aerial view of Tesla Shanghai Gigafactory at night on October 22, 2021 in Shanghai, China. <\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">VCG via Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Members of Congress from both parties have also raised concerns about whether Musk\u2019s business dealings in China could pose a national security threat. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The lawmakers are specifically alarmed about China potentially obtaining classified <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a> through Musk\u2019s space company SpaceX, The Wall Street Journal reported last week.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am a fan of Elon Musk and SpaceX, but anyone would be concerned if there are financial entanglements with China,\u201d Rep.
