Before that, a judge in the California Superior Court denied the accuser\u2019s request for a restraining order. <\/p>\n<p>Bauer was accused of punching and choking a woman unconscious during sex. The pitcher admitted to having rough sex with the accuser, but said it was consensual. During the case, Bauer\u2019s attorney claimed that the pitcher had text messages from the accuser \u201cinvolving requests to be \u2018choked out\u2019 and sl<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ed in the face\u201d and that \u201cthe woman spent the night, and left without incident, continuing to message Mr. Bauer with friendly and flirtatious banter.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the lawsuit against Knight and The Athletic, Bauer\u2019s attorneys claim that Knight and The Athletic \u201cdefamed Mr. Bauer by creating and spreading the false narrative that Mr. Bauer fractured the Complainant\u2019s skull.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bauer\u2019s attorneys at Kinsella Weitzman Iser Kump Holley LLP and Zuckerman Spaeder LLP filed the suit Tuesday in the United States District Court Central District of California Western Division.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/03\/GettyImages-1326010321.jpg?w=1024\" alt=\"Trevor Bauer is suing Molly Knight and The Athletic for defamation.\" class=\"wp-image-21709413\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/03\/GettyImages-1326010321.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=2048 2048w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/03\/GettyImages-1326010321.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1536 1536w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/03\/GettyImages-1326010321.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all 1024w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/03\/GettyImages-1326010321.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=512 512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"\/><figcaption>Trevor Bauer is suing Molly Knight and The Athletic for defamation.<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThere was no basis for that assertion because the Complainant\u2019s own medical records \u2014 which The Athletic possessed \u2014 showed that she had no such fracture,\u201d the suit continues. \u201cNonetheless, consistent with their prior and subsequent expressions of animus toward Mr. Bauer, The Athletic and Ms. Knight publicized that false attack, which was picked up and further disseminated to a larger audience by other media outlets and social media sites.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The suit also cited tweets from Knight that referred to the accuser\u2019s skull as \u201ccracked\u201d or \u201cfractured.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDefendants acted with actual malice because they deliberately ignored the truth \u2014 which was evident in the medical records possessed by The Athletic \u2014 and because the Defendants\u2019 defamatory statements were part of a campaign to harass Mr. Bauer, as evidenced by, among other actions, their prior and subsequent false and misleading statements about his conduct and character, their efforts to dissuade Major League Baseball teams from signing him, and their strident complaints about the Los Angeles Dodgers\u2019 decision to add him to their team.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"824\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/03\/Screen-Shot-2022-03-29-at-7.13.36-PM.png?w=824\" alt=\"Molly Knight at Dodger Stadium in 2020.\" class=\"wp-image-21709436\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/03\/Screen-Shot-2022-03-29-at-7.13.36-PM.png?w=824 824w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/03\/Screen-Shot-2022-03-29-at-7.13.36-PM.png?w=412 412w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/03\/Screen-Shot-2022-03-29-at-7.13.36-PM.png 934w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 824px) 100vw, 824px\"\/><figcaption>Molly Knight at Dodger Stadium in 2020.<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">Molly Knight \/ Instagram<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>This is Bauer\u2019s second defamation suit related to this case. He also has sued the website Deadspin.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are aware of legal action taken by Trevor Bauer,\u201d a spokesperson for The Athletic told The Post. \u201cWe\u2019re confident in our reporting and plan to defend against the claim.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Knight declined to comment for this story.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month, MLB extended Bauer\u2019s paid administrative leave, which he has been on since June 29, through April 16 as the league conducts an investigation into the allegations.\n                        <\/p><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
