The\u00a0<em>Independence Day<\/em> star was highly favored to win the Best Actor award before the event. But shortly before he took home the trophy, that fateful slap reshaped the whole narrative of the evening \u2014 and perhaps Will\u2019s entire career.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Related: Oscars Host Wanda Sykes Condemns Will\u2019s Actions Following The Slap!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The <em>King Richard<\/em> star was forced to make a much more apologetic speech than he would have otherwise, and skipped doing any press so that he wouldn\u2019t have to comment on the incident. Afterwards, he and wife <strong>Jada Pinkett Smith<\/strong> met up with their children <strong>Jaden Smith<\/strong>, <strong>Willow Smith<\/strong>, and <strong>Trey Smith<\/strong> (whom Will shares with ex <strong>Sheree Zampino<\/strong>, who also joined them later) to party the night away, ignoring the pall that he\u2019d cast over the night.<\/p>\n<p>Since then, the Smiths have been sparing in their statements (besides the Fresh Prince himself, who released a full written apology). On Tuesday, Willow followed that trend by posting a cryptic quote to her <strong>Instagram Story<\/strong> that seemed to reference all the drama. It read:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cYou know who\u2019s going through a lot right now? Literally everyone. Just be kind.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>We mean\u2026 it\u2019s kind of a quote for all seasons, but it\u2019s not like she\u2019s wrong or anything. We should definitely all be kinder. Chris should have been kinder, Will should have been kinder. Everyone online should be kinder.<\/p>\n<p>Her brother spoke up right away, though it\u2019s unclear what he meant. Jaden was a fairly cryptic in his im<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>te response to The Slap, although his message was definitely supportive. In fact, sources for <em>Radar Online<\/em> have suggested that the 53-year-old has turned down interviews with <em>Good Morning America<\/em> and <em>The Today Show<\/em> because the couple feels their <strong>Facebook Watch<\/strong> show is the \u201cbest platform for him to explain his side of things clearly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime, everyone and their mother has been voicing an opinion on the situation, and the Academy has promised \u201cappropriate action\u201d will be taken against Will for the moment of violence.
