Some states even prohibit companies from using positive marijuana test results as a factor in hiring decisions.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, New York state\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/dol.ny.gov\/system\/files\/documents\/2021\/10\/p420-cannabisfaq-10-08-21.pdf\">issued new guidance<\/a>\u00a0that bans employers from testing employees for cannabis unless the worker seems visibly stoned on the job.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/03\/officer-workers.jpg?w=1024\" alt=\"Many companies located in states where recreational use of marijuana is legal don't even bother testing their employees for THC, according to a report.\" class=\"wp-image-21719141\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/03\/officer-workers.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1535 1536w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/03\/officer-workers.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all 1024w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/03\/officer-workers.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=512 512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"\/><figcaption>Many companies located in states where recreational use of marijuana is legal don\u2019t bother testing their employees for THC, according to a report.<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Companies that were beset by worker shortages and that were headquartered in states that allow recreational use of marijuana did not bother to administer as many tests last year as compared to 2020, according to Quest Diagnostics.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, there were 6.7% fewer urine samples that were tested for THC, the psychoactive compound found in marijuana which is responsible for giving users the \u201chigh,\u201d compared to 2020.<\/p>\n<p>In states where recreational use of marijuana is legal, that number grew to more than 10%, according to the Journal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe certainly heard from some of our employer customers that they were having difficulty finding qualified workers to pass the drug test,\u201d said Dr. Barry Sample, a senior <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/sciencee\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"5\" title=\"Science\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">science<\/a> consultant for Quest.<\/p>\n<p>Cannabis\u00a0remains illegal on the federal level.
