The assault reportedly went down shortly after the <em>Fresh Prince of Bel-Air<\/em> star received his first rap <strong>Grammy<\/strong>, alongside <strong>DJ Jazzy Jeff<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>A police report stated that Smith asked his bodyguard, <strong>Charles Alston<\/strong>, to \u201cattack\u201d record promoter, <strong>William Hendricks<\/strong>, who needed six stitches after he fractured his left eye orbit during the attack. Not only was it over three decades ago, the alleged violence wasn\u2019t even committed by Will himself. But it might give you an idea how the actor is feeling in the wake of this latest incident.<\/p>\n<p>A source told the mag about the 1989 fallout:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWill had to spend a night in the cell at the West Philadelphia police station with other inmates waking him up all night long and asking for his autograph. It was the worst night of his life. He wants to forget it ever happened.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>He also likely wants to forget about The Slap, too, but that\u2019s not gonna happen anytime soon.<\/p>\n<p>As you definitely know, Will stormed the stage and \u201cslapped the s**t out of\u201d Rock after the co<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>n made a bad joke about <strong>Jada Pinkett Smith<\/strong>\u2019s hair during Sunday\u2019s televised ceremony.\u00a0The actor claimed he was simply defending his wife from Rock\u2019s \u201cabuse\u201d when he accepted his Best Actor award for <em>King Richard<\/em>, telling the crowd:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI know, to do what we do, you gotta be able to take abuse. You gotta be able to have people talk crazy about you. In this business, you gotta be able to have people disrespecting you. And you gotta smile and you gotta pretend like that\u2019s okay\u2026 Art imitates life. I look like the crazy father, but love will make you do crazy things.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In the wake of the event, <strong>Richard Williams<\/strong> \u2014 the man Smith portrayed on screen in his award-winning role \u2014 condemned his actions, telling <strong>NBC <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">News<\/a><\/strong> through his son, <strong>Chavoita LeSane<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWe don\u2019t know all the details of what happened. But we don\u2019t condone anyone hitting anyone else unless it\u2019s in self-defense.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>And although some on social media are actually applauding Will for defending his wife, the Academy isn\u2019t letting him off the hook.
