CEO of the Crypto Council for Innovation Sheila Warren, executive director of Coin Center Jerry Brito, and global managing partner and chief strategy officer of risk compliance and monitoring firm K2 Integrity Juan Zarate were participants.<\/p>\n<p>After opening comments, the first of three questions posed to the panel concerned American innovation. Brito expressed hope that crypto would be allowed to develop with open access like the Internet did. He spoke of the process as letting \u201ca thousand flowers bloom.\u201d Zarate spoke of using blockchain technologies \u201cto challenge U.S. adversaries.\u201d It will be possible, Zarate said, to reinforce U.S. capital markets and the role of the dollar \u201cif we have a say and a hand in how\u201d the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a> is developed. He mentioned, in particular, the use of dollar-denominated stablecoin to the nation\u2019s advantage.<\/p>\n<p>The second question concerned regulation. Zarate bemoaned the \u201cshoehorning\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>roach to crypto regulation, which is based on agencies\u2019 purviews rather than the nature of crypto, while Brito spoke in favor of principle-based regulations. Brito criticized the IRS for being a regulatory \u201claggard.\u201d Warren spoke about incentivization and risk, and Zarate rejoined the discussion to say that absolutism \u2014 the unwillingness to accept any risk of bad action \u2014 is \u201cnot how the financial world deals with risk.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The discussion of the digital yuan proved to be the liveliest, with Brito and Warren sharing their very different perspectives. Brito argued that\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201ca digital yuan is still a yuan, and nobody wants to hold yuan.\u201d\u00a0<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The Belt and Road Initiative, he said, would not change the attitude toward the Chinese currency. But a \u201cbearer-private\u201d digital dollar could \u201cdollarize the Internet overnight\u201d and \u201ccement dollar dominance in the world,\u201d Brito said. Warren saw a greater threat from the Chinese debt trap for developing countries, which could result in the forced adoption of the digital yuan.<\/p>\n<p>The webinar had an audience of about 100, according to host Jamil Jaffer.
