and are now traded by both individual investors and companies like\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/markets.businessinsider.com\/news\/currencies\/13-top-banks-investing-cryptocurrency-blockchain-technology-funding-blockdata-bitcoin-2021-8\" class=\"icon none\">Citibank<\/a>\u00a0and Tesla<br \/>\n        TSLA,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/203558040\/composite\" class=\"positive\">+0.65%<\/bg-quote><span>.<\/span>\n      <\/p>\n<p> During parts of 2021, the total market cap for crypto nearly hit $3 trillion. Companies like Robinhood<br \/>\n        HOOD,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/228268942\/composite\" class=\"negative\">-0.07%<\/bg-quote><span>,<\/span><br \/>\n       Coinbase<br \/>\n        COIN,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/225893452\/composite\" class=\"negative\">-1.53%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       and Crypto.com capitalized on all the trading.<\/p>\n<div class=\"paywall\">\n       As the interest in crypto continues to rise, so does the interest in crypto prices.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s how crypto prices changed in March:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bitcoin<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Prices for bitcoin moved 5.4% higher during the month of March, the second month in a row of positive gains.<\/p>\n<p>Bitcoin\u2019s recent increase comes as one strategist believes\u00a0more volatility could soon be coming for the digital asset, despite its recent price firmness in the $38,000 to $42,000 range during the early part of 2022.<\/p>\n<p><strong>See also: Bitcoin could reach $1.3 million in this scenario, VanEck says<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As the U.S. and other countries impose monetary sanctions on Russia for its military invasion of Ukraine, there was some speculation that Russia could be using crypto as a means to avoid some of these sanctions.<\/p>\n<p>But law enforcement experts say there is \u201cno evidence\u201d that Russian President Vladimir Putin is using bitcoin to evade financial sanctions.<\/p>\n<div id=\"cx-membership-tile\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201c\u200b\u200bAfter so many financial market moving events, Bitcoin still seems to be stuck in no man\u2019s land,\u201d Edward Moya, an analyst at broker Oanda, wrote in March in Barron\u2019s. \u201cBitcoin\u2019s key trading range remains the $37,000 and $45,000 zone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCrypto traders should be impressed that Bitcoin is still hovering around the $40,000 level despite a surging dollar, declining Bitcoin mining, and falling NFT interest. Bitcoin\u2019s next major move will depend on if Wall Street is still able to throw billions of dollars at the space, which seemed like a foregone conclusion two months ago,\u201d Moya continued.<\/p>\n<p>Bitcoin is down 20.8% over the past 12 months at the time of this writing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>See also: Here\u2019s how sports-betting stocks like DraftKings and Penn National performed in March<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ethereum<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Prices for ether increased 12.4% during the month of March, the second month in a row of positive gains.<\/p>\n<p>The recent uptick comes as ethereum\u2019s latest upgrade, which is expected to lower the blockchain\u2019s carbon footprint, is expected in the coming months.<\/p>\n<p>MarketWatch\u2019s Frances Yue reported that some in the crypto industry wonder if the upgrade could eventually lead to ether overtaking bitcoin as the crypto with the biggest market cap, an event referred to as the \u201c<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.blockchaincenter.net\/en\/flippening\/\" class=\"icon none\">flippening<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>See also: Los Angeles\u2019 guaranteed income program will pay 1,000 people $1,000 a month for three years \u2014 here\u2019s how it works<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>One crypto hack from the \u2018Axie Infinity\u2019 network led to about $540 million worth of crypto being stolen.
