alt=\"\" width=\"6240\" height=\"4160\"\/><br \/>\nWhen Valentine Deregnaucourt moved to Canada from France, she looked for a university known for its research programs, innovation and ability to help students gain career skills and work experience.<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_are_the_benefits_of_studying_at_ULethbridge_over_larger_institutions\"><\/span>What are the benefits of studying at ULethbridge over larger institutions?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>\u201cSince I started at ULethbridge, I\u2019ve had so many opportunities and experiences. Because it\u2019s a small university, I was able to get to know my professors, and staff. In my first two years, I was involved in three different <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/sr.studiostack.com\/c\/link?l=828640&amp;s=828606\">research<\/a> projects, on the executive of <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/sr.studiostack.com\/c\/link?l=828647&amp;s=828606\">clubs<\/a>, a teaching assistant, a French tutor, a volunteer for the International Centre and more. To sum up, ULethbridge puts you on the path to success by helping you build relationships, find opportunities and develop new experiences and skills. ULethbridge offers a lot of experiential learning opportunities not always offered at other universities.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"John_Little_Bear_%E2%80%93_Piitaaaohkamii\"><\/span>John Little Bear \u2013 Piitaa\u2019aohkamii<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Bachelor_of_Health_Sciences_student_Major_Aboriginal_Health\"><\/span>Bachelor of Health Sciences student | Major: <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/sr.studiostack.com\/c\/link?l=828653&amp;s=828606\">Aboriginal Health<\/a><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-sizes=\"auto\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1235022 lazyload\" src=\"https:\/\/www.macleans.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/john_little_bear-9364.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"5985\" height=\"3990\"\/><br \/>\nJohn Little Bear \u2013 Piitaa\u2019aohkamii, chose ULethbridge because of the Aboriginal Health program and how close his home is to campus, located on traditional <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/sr.studiostack.com\/c\/link?l=828657&amp;s=828606\">Blackfoot Confederacy<\/a> territory. In his program, which blends Indigenous Ways of Knowing with Western health concepts, he\u2019s learned ways to support his community through a connection to his culture.<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_has_helped_inspire_you_most_during_your_time_at_ULethbridge\"><\/span>What has helped inspire you most during your time at ULethbridge?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>\u201cStudents who have already completed the Aboriginal Health program inspire me on my academic journey. As well as the support I\u2019ve received from faculty, friends and family, I\u2019ve also benefited from the wisdom of <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/sr.studiostack.com\/c\/link?l=828659&amp;s=828606\">Elders<\/a>. One of the unique benefits I most <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>reciate about the Aboriginal Health program is the inclusion of our Traditional Knowledge Keepers and Elders. To listen to them in a classroom setting helped me as a person and as a future health advocate, and the ongoing support and guidance from the Elders has helped me be mindful of myself and my community. It\u2019s so important to know that you\u2019re not alone and that there are student support structures and people willing to help when it\u2019s needed.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Angeline_Simon\"><\/span>Angeline Simon<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Bachelor_of_Fine_Arts_graduate_Major_Art_Studio\"><\/span>Bachelor of Fine Arts graduate | Major: <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/sr.studiostack.com\/c\/link?l=828661&amp;s=828606\">Art Studio<\/a><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-sizes=\"auto\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1235015 lazyload\" src=\"https:\/\/www.macleans.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Angeline-Simon-36.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"3513\" height=\"2342\"\/><br \/>\nThere is not much left to remember Lethbridge\u2019s Chinatown by, but emerging local artist and <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/sr.studiostack.com\/c\/link?l=828663&amp;s=828606\">ULethbridge alumna<\/a> Angeline Simon (BFA \u201918) is looking to uncover the forgotten memories of a formative time in local history. Angeline\u2019s artwork is featured as the new exhibition in one of the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/sr.studiostack.com\/c\/link?l=828665&amp;s=828606\">ULethbridge Art Gallery<\/a> satellite spaces, the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/sr.studiostack.com\/c\/link?l=828671&amp;s=828606\">Christou Gallery<\/a>. Titled A Glimpse into Chinatown, Angeline is showcasing images of the architecture in Chinatown, along with archival texts and objects that address anti-Asian racism in Lethbridge.<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_has_ULethbridge_influenced_your_exhibit\"><\/span>How has ULethbridge influenced your exhibit?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>\u201cWith this exhibition, I\u2019m hoping to uncover forgotten histories in Lethbridge. There is a lot of history with Chinatown and not many people think about that anymore, especially with how it\u2019s kind of an empty street now. There\u2019s things like the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/sr.studiostack.com\/c\/link?l=828677&amp;s=828606\">Christmas Riot of 1907 and Bylaw 83<\/a> that many people are just unaware of.
