And that claim is even more ridiculous than it seems. <\/p>\n<p>The evidence is clear: Bail reform allows a good number of recidivist felony offenders to re-offend\u2014 with more than half of violent offenders who get to walk committing new crimes.<\/p>\n<p>State Chief Judge Janet DiFiore, a registered Democrat, believes judges should have the \u201cdiscretion to consider the critically important factor of whether or not a defendant poses a credible risk of danger\u201d to others.<\/p>\n<p>Yet lawmakers in Albany just don\u2019t want to give jurists that discretion, no matter how horrible the facts of the crime or the accused\u2019s criminal history.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nysenate.gov\/newsroom\/press-releases\/brad-hoylman\/bail-reform-faqs\">State Sen. Brad Hoylman (D-Manhattan) says,<\/a> \u201c \u2018Dangerousness\u2019 standards allow for arbitrary and racist judicial decision-making.\u201d Assemblywoman Latrice Walker (D-B\u2019klyn) even accused Mayor Eric Adams of \u201cadopting the rhetoric\u201d of anti-black racists in his calls to give judges more discretion to set bail in certain instances.<\/p>\n<p>What makes all this truly bizarre is that local parties play a huge role in picking who gets to <em>be <\/em>a judge in the first place, t<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ing candidates for trial courts. In most of the city, you\u2019ll never become a judge without the backing of the county Democratic committee.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s right: The Democrats who control the Legislature are claiming that the Democrats who run most local committees are soft on racism, producing a hopelessly biased court system. (And they never, ever talk about how their \u201canti-racist\u201d distrust of the judges their own cronies choose means more crime victims, themselves overwhelmingly black or Hispanic.)<\/p>\n<p>Heck, Heastie in backing this lunacy is ignoring the fact that <em>he<\/em> dominates Bronx politics, and so the Bronx bench. He\u2019s basically claiming that he <em>himself <\/em>is choosing racists as judges, along with all the state\u2019s urban Democratic County Committees.
