The artistic community at AUArts is so vibrant and the studio resources are second to none. The instructors are internationally recognized artists with a passion for helping emerging artists thrive. I can\u2019t imagine a more supportive community to be in on my journey to become a professional artist.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Describe some of your best experiences so far.<\/strong><br \/>My best experiences include hosting an impromptu dance party in the glass studios with friends (safely, of course!) and working with the Student\u2019s Association on our biannual student Show + Sale. It\u2019s wonderful to be in a school that values community and creativity and lets us hang loose once in a while. I have also enjoyed my one-on-one time with instructors at the end of the semester. I feel that my instructors are both mentors and friends, and I always <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>reciate the time they take to look over my portfolio.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Are you involved in extracurricular activities?<\/strong><br \/>I currently work in the Student\u2019s Association, where I am the coordinator of our biannual student Show + Sale. It\u2019s been a great way to meet other students and learn about the amazing art they\u2019re making. I also volunteer with the Glass Club and the Creig Gallery, both student clubs that raise funds for <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">trip<\/a>s and showcase student work.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What do you think of your professors?<\/strong><br \/>The instructors and technicians at AUArts are amazing. While some courses were not my favourites, I haven\u2019t had an instructor I didn\u2019t like in my five years of school. They can seem intimidating at first, being internationally recognized artists and all, but I\u2019ve found that they will bend over backward to help their students succeed. The same goes for our technicians, who run our studios.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What do you think of the school\u2019s administration?<\/strong><br \/>My best advice for new students is to ask for sign-up help early. The online process is fairly easy, but folks who have transfer credits or wish to sign up for a higher level class will need help in person. Our registrar and academic advisers are constantly in demand, so make sure you book a session early and with a plan. Keep in mind that some courses might also be very popular, such as glassblowing, so being proactive is a must.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is off-campus life like in Calgary?<\/strong><br \/>Calgary has a vibrant arts community, which includes music, performing arts, visual arts and more. Even in a pandemic, you\u2019ll find many events that celebrate creativity and community in the city. It\u2019s perfect for the aspiring artist.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>PROFILE: Alberta University of the Arts | Calgary, Alta. | Founded 1926<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>If I wrote the school motto:<\/strong> \u2018The world needs more artists!\u2019<br \/><strong>Best place to live:<\/strong> Just across the train tracks at the SAIT campus. No one will judge you for waking up late if school is a five-minute walk away.<br \/><strong>Best place to study:<\/strong> My favourite place is on the fourth floor with the (free!) tutors. They\u2019re an awesome resource to help with work, and the room is nice too.<br \/><strong>Best campus events:<\/strong> The Show + Sale takes the cake. It\u2019s a great chance for students to show off their stuff and pay off their tuition.<br \/><strong>Weirdest tradition:<\/strong> Everyone has to leave their mark in the graffiti stairwell before they graduate!<br \/><strong>Best campus food:<\/strong> You\u2019d be surprised at how good the students are at cooking! There are monthly potlucks at our Lodgepole Center and anyone can participate.<br \/><strong>Best pizza:<\/strong> The school cafeteria makes really good pizzas and calzones<br \/><strong>Best place for a fancy dinner:<\/strong> The Highwood at SAIT across the way<br \/><strong>Best giveaway:<\/strong> Free snacks at the welcome desk on the main floor<br \/><strong>Best bar for hanging out:<\/strong> The Oak Tree Tavern<br \/><strong>Best weekend activity:<\/strong> Heading out to the mountains with friends<br \/><strong>The thing that surprised me most about the school:<\/strong> You really get to know your instructors.
