At the time, Lorenz, then a reporter for the New York Times, said she had endured a \u201csmear campaign\u201d that had \u201cdestroyed her life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Carlson fired back, claiming Lorenz\u2019s remarks were another example of \u201cpowerful people claiming to be powerless.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The dustup kicked off in February 2021, when journalist Glenn Greenwald\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/greenwald.substack.com\/p\/the-journalistic-tattletale-and-censorship\">called her a \u201cjournalistic tattletale\u201d<\/a>\u00a0after she incorrectly accused Silicon Valley investor Marc Andreessen of using the \u201cR-word\u201d \u2014 meaning \u201cretard\u201d \u2014 during a private discussion on the members-only Clubhouse <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1011\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/taylor-lorenz-msnbc-harassment-02.jpg?w=1011\" alt=\"Taylor Lorenz tweets\" class=\"wp-image-21774725\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/taylor-lorenz-msnbc-harassment-02.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1517 1516w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/taylor-lorenz-msnbc-harassment-02.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1011 1011w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/taylor-lorenz-msnbc-harassment-02.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=506 505w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/taylor-lorenz-msnbc-harassment-02.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1011px) 100vw, 1011px\"\/><figcaption>Washington Post reporter Taylor Lorenz accused MSNBC of botching its segment on online harassment.<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">@taylorlorenz<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In fact, another participant in the discussion \u2014 which was about the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Game<\/a>Stop stock rally \u2014 had used the word while explaining that some investors on Reddit call themselves the \u201cR-word Revolution,\u201d according to its moderator Nait Jones, who added \u201cthis is why people block\u201d journalists from private discussions \u2014 \u201cbecause of this horse s\u2013t dishonesty.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The segment also detailed Lorenz\u2019s heated interactions with Greenwald, who once argued that her effort to \u201cclaim this level of victimhood is revolting\u201d given her starring role at an influential media outlet.<\/p>\n<p>In one heated exchange last August, Greenwald ripped Lorenz after she suggested he wasn\u2019t a \u201clegitimate journalist\u201d \u2014 taking aim at her coverage of various scandals involving social media influencers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not a \u2018legitimate journalist,\u2019 says the deeply unwell Swiss-boarding-school-educated neurotic who is paid by the New York Times to lurk outside teenagers\u2019 TikTok houses and exposes their past transgressions,\u201d Greenwald tweeted.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"embed-wrapper twitter\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Taylor Lorenz is a star reporter with the most influential newspaper in the US, arguably the west. I have severe PTSD from this. I contemplated suicide. It got really bad,\u201d Lorenz said. \u201cYou feel like any little piece of information that gets out on you will be used by the worst people on the internet to destroy your life and it\u2019s so isolating.
