Kelly\u2019s bid to postpone the sentencing date for his sex trafficking convictions in New York.<\/p>\n<p>In their letter to Brooklyn federal court Judge Ann Donnelly, prosecutors argued that Kelly\u2019s victims \u201chave waited years\u201d to see the disgraced R&amp;B singer \u201cheld to account\u201d and sentenced. <\/p>\n<p>The pointed remarks came in response to a  motion filed last Tuesday by Kelly\u2019s new attorney, Jennifer Ann Bonjean \u2014  asking Donnelly to delay the 54-year-old singer\u2019s scheduled May 4 sentencing until after he is tried separately in Illinois in August on federal charges of child pornography and obstruction of justice.<\/p>\n<p>Kelly was convicted in September on all nine counts against him \u2014 including racketeering and violations of the Mann Act, which prohibits the transport of \u201cany woman or girl\u201d across state lines for any \u201cimmoral purpose.\u201d He faces 10 years to life in prison.<\/p>\n<p>Bonjean, in her request, expressed concerns that any potential testimony made by Kelly to a mitigation expert for his sentencing hearing could be used against him in his Illinois case, according to the letter. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"646\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/GettyImages-1168903008-e1649141363410.jpg?w=1024\" alt=\"R. Kelly\u2019s victims \u201chave waited years\u201d to see him \u201cheld to account\u201d and sentenced.<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The lawyer wrote that she \u201ccannot advise Mr. Kelly to be examined or interviewed by a mitigation expert for sentencing in this case if his words might be used against him in some manner in his pending NDIL trial,\u201d the letter said. <\/p>\n<p>But prosecutors dismissed her argument as \u201cspeculative concern.\u201d They argued it \u201cstrains credibility that [Kelly] would say anything to a potential mitigation expert that would incriminate him\u201d in his other case. <\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors added that they would not share any such mitigation report with the prosecutors from the Northern District of Illinois, and would \u201cwould welcome a court order further prohibiting any such disclosure.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs proven at trial, the defendant engaged in wide-ranging and extensive criminal conduct, involving multiple victims, with impunity for decades,\u201d prosecutors wrote in the letter. \u201cHis victims have waited years to see the defendant held to account and sentenced for his crimes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>They said many victims have already scheduled to <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">travel<\/a> to New York for the May 4 sentencing.\n                        <\/p><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
