On a recent day, Burstein and Schiffmann logged 800,000 users.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve heard all sorts of amazing stories of hosts and refugees getting connected all over the world,\u201d Burstein said in an interview on the Harvard campus. \u201cWe have hosts in almost any country you can imagine from Hungary and Romania and Poland to Canada to Australia. Five days later, she, her daughter and their pet were at the front door.<\/p>\n<p>Burstein and Schiffmann designed the platform with combat refugees\u2019 particular concerns in mind. They worked to make it as easy to use as possible so someone in im<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>te danger can enter their location and see the offers of help that are closest to them.<\/p>\n<p>On the hosting side, they also gave prospective hosts the opportunity to indicate what languages they speak; how many refugees they can accommodate; and any restrictions on taking in young children or pets.<\/p>\n<p>To help avoid\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/russia-ukraine-immigration-moldova-poland-europe-17c62dbeb4c88e04e7253865bc20c9f0\">human trafficking and other hazards that vulnerable refugees face<\/a>, the platform encourages evacuees to ask hosts to provide their full names and social media profiles, and request a video call to show what accommodations they\u2019re offering.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"635\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/harvard-26.jpg?w=1024\" alt=\"A sign for Harvard University's Business School stands in Cambridge, Massachusetts, U.S., on Monday, Aug. 6, 2012.\" class=\"wp-image-21789492\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/harvard-26.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1536 1536w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/harvard-26.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all 1024w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/harvard-26.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=512 512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"\/><figcaption>A sign for Harvard University\u2019s Business School stands in Cambridge, Massachusetts, U.S., on Monday, Aug. 6, 2012. <\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">Bloomberg via Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cWe know that this is potentially a dangerous situation, so we have a lot of steps in place to ensure the protection of our refugees,\u201d Burstein said. \u201cWe have a detailed guide that we give to all refugees to help them verify the host that they\u2019re talking to \u2014 make sure that the person that they may be speaking with on the phone is the same one that they\u2019re meeting up with in person.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The two students say they\u2019re trying to arrange a meeting with officials from the U.N. refugee agency, and they are also looking to work with Airbnb, Vrbo and other online vacation rental companies.<\/p>\n<p>So far, they\u2019ve borne all the expenses \u2014 a hardship for college students \u2014 for web hosting and Google Translate costs. But they\u2019re determined to continue as long as possible and are looking into registering as\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/russia-ukraine-business-europe-philanthropy-7a08176a4b6c6822fcbfc0afc548969a\">a 501(c)(3) nonprofit<\/a>\u00a0so they can <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ly for grants.<\/p>\n<p>Back in Sweden, Mijatov admits it was a bit unnerving to open his home, but he has no regrets.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s the first time we are doing something like this,\u201d he said, seated next to Frantseva. \u201cBut they\u2019re very nice people.
