Nine of these protestors \u2014 Frank Crichlow, Darcus Howe, Altheia Jones-LeCointe, Barbara Beese, Rupert Boyce, Rhodan Gordon, Anthony Innis, Rothwell Kentish, and Godfrey Millett \u2014 were arrested and charged with incitement to riot.\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<iframe allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/yyVRkWsIJcM\" frameborder=\"0\" height=\"550\" width=\"100%\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><br \/>\n<i><span>Mangrove <\/span><\/i><span>tells the story of these nine individuals and their very public trial that followed.\u00a0<\/span><span>\u201cSunday, August 9th, is 50 years since the Mangrove March, which led to nine innocent Black women and men being arrested. It was a march necessitated by relentless police brutality in Notting Hill,\u201d McQueen said in a statement about the film. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cTo commemorate the bravery of these community activists and the nine who went on to be acquitted of incitement to riot with the judge citing &#8220;evidence of racial hatred,&#8221; I am sharing the trailer of <\/span><i><span>Mangrove<\/span><\/i><span>, one of five films to be released under the banner <\/span><i><span>Small Axe.&#8221; <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span>Letitia Wright, who is best known for her work in <\/span><i><span>Black Panther, <\/span><\/i><span>stars in the film, as well as Shaun Parkes, Malachi Kirby, Rochenda Sandall, Jack Lowden, Sam Spruell, Gershwyn Eustache Jr, Nathaniel Martello-White, Richie Campbell, Jumayn Hunter, and Gary Beadle.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_944644\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"mangrove small axe anthology\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-944644\" data-aspectratio=\"2028\/1200\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.tvinsider.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Mangrove-Letitia-Wright.jpg\" data- height=\"1200\"  src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP\/\/\/yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7\"  width=\"2028\"><\/img><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-944644\">(Des Willie \/ Amazon Prime Video)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><i><span>Small Axe <\/span><\/i><span>will include films set from the late 1960s to the mid-1980s and will tell various stories involving London\u2019s West Indian community.
