And then, slowly but surely, it starts to feel more sluggish. Every week or month, things take just a little longer to load, until your PC feels like it\u2019s running<\/span> <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Windows_1.0x\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Windows 1.0<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, not Windows 11.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If this describes you, it\u2019s probably about time you take a look at which apps are running at startup, and s<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">trip<\/a> things down to the bare essentials.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We\u2019re here to help. There are multiple ways to prevent apps from loading as soon as you log in on Windows 11, but we\u2019ll go through some of the simplest and most common ones.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Quick_and_easy_The_Task_Manager\"><\/span><b>Quick and easy: The Task Manager<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The quickest and most efficient way to regularly check for startup apps is probably through the Task Manager.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">First things first: open the Task Manager by pressing <\/span><b>Ctrl+Shift+Esc<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on your keyboard. Then navigate to the \u2018Startup\u2019 tab.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You\u2019ll now see a list of all the apps that are set to launch when you turn on your computer, as well as the estimated startup impact \u2014 how much they slow down your computer\u2019s startup. I like Spotify, but I don\u2019t need it to load <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">every time<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> I turn on my PC.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Then simply select the app(s) you want to prevent from launching at startup, and press \u2018Disable\u2019 on the bottom right. Alternatively, right-click on a list item and select \u2018Disable\u2019 from there.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Alternative_The_Settings_Menu\"><\/span><b>Alternative: The Settings Menu<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I like using the Task Manager because I already use it often for closing running apps, and it\u2019s readily accessible via a simple keyboard shortcut. While disabling startup apps should <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">general<\/a>ly do the trick, it\u2019s possible there\u2019s a background service that is preventing your PC from running as smoothly as possible.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Startup services are not quite the same thing as startup apps. Whereas apps only load once a user logs on, services apply to <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">all<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> user accounts on your PC. Moreover, services run in the background and don\u2019t have an interface associated with them, so you might not be aware of most of the services running on your PC.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A word of caution before we proceed: I wouldn\u2019t recommend messing with your startup services unless you\u2019re confident in what you\u2019re disabling.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You probably shouldn\u2019t disable anything that\u2019s listed as being made by Microsoft, lest you want to run into various bugs or you\u2019re really sure what you\u2019re doing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And even if it\u2019s not made by Microsoft, disabling a service could break a commonly used app or function. Some apps run background services to prevent piracy, and will not load without them running, for instance. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Other times, your PC\u2019s hardware and accessories might rely on a specific service for full functionality.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Still, these changes are reversible, so you\u2019re unlikely to set your PC aflame by disabling a service. Probably.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If none of that dissuaded you, press <\/span><b>Win+R<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and type \u2018msconfig.\u2019 Alternatively, type \u2018msconfig\u2019 from the Start menu.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This will open a window titled System Configuration. When in doubt, a web search can provide more information on whether a service is safe to disable. But again, proceed with caution.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And that\u2019s about it. Hopefully, these tips will have your PC running like new again.
