\n Two NYPD officers were punched in the face while trying to collar an accused shoplifter at a Home Depot in Manhattan, police sources said.<\/p>\n

The assault unfolded around 10:15 a.m. Friday when the two cops were called to the hardware store on West 23rd Street in Chelsea to arrest the 46-year-old man, who was being held by store security, the sources said.<\/p>\n

The man, identified as Ramos Wilberto, became violent when cops tried to slap cuffs on him \u2014 and punched both officers in the face, sources said.<\/p>\n

The officers were treated at NYU Langone Hospital for cuts and bruises, according to sources.<\/p>\n

Wilberto, who sources believe may be homeless, was taken to Bellevue Hospital, the sources said.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
