Let\u2019s find out when you can expect to buy a device supporting those coveted transfer speeds, or at least something close to them.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_Even_Is_Wi-Fi_7\"><\/span>What Even Is Wi-Fi 7?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Put simply, Wi-Fi 7 is a wireless connection standard that improves on earlier standards to offer faster speeds and less interference, all while maintaining backward compatibility for your legacy devices. It also goes by a more technical name,\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/IEEE_802.11be\">802.11be<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>To give you an idea of what to expect, your home router and the device you\u2019re using to access this article are likely sporting Wi-Fi 5. If that\u2019s the case, your wireless transfer speeds max out at\u00a03.5Gbps, and that\u2019s assuming you\u2019re not hampered by interference, which you probably are if you live near other people with their own networks.<\/p>\n<p>Wi-Fi 7, in contrast, has demonstrated maximum speeds of 30Gbps, more than eight times that of Wi-Fi 5. Better yet, it dynamically utilizes more Wi-Fi channels, allowing it to better handle interference. But do you even need that kind of ridiculous speed? For most people, the answer is probably no, but the idea that it\u2019ll one day be the standard everyone is using is pretty exciting.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Can_I_Buy_Wi-Fi_7-Enabled_Devices_Yet\"><\/span>Can I Buy Wi-Fi 7-Enabled Devices Yet?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Media<\/a>Tek, an organization helping to develop Wi-Fi 7, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.xda-developers.com\/mediatek-wifi-7-testing\/\">said<\/a>\u00a0in January 2022 that the first devices will arrive in 2023. However, final regulatory <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>roval for the standard isn\u2019t expected until 2024. That doesn\u2019t stop manufacturers, though, from trying to get Wi-Fi 7\u2019s sweet, sweet speeds in your devices to you as soon as possible.<\/p>\n<p>In February 2022, chipmaker Qualcomm\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.qualcomm.com\/news\/releases\/2022\/02\/28\/qualcomm-extends-connectivity-leadership-worlds-first-and-fastest-wi-fi-7\">announced<\/a>\u00a0a Wi-Fi 7-enabled chip for computers, smartphones, and VR headsets. The company claimed commercial availability will begin in the second half of 2022, completed standards or none. Manufacturer boasts aside, we don\u2019t expect you\u2019ll have a Wi-Fi 7 device in your hands until late 2023 at the earliest.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Whats_the_Next_Best_Thing\"><\/span>What\u2019s the Next Best Thing?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>If you want the bleeding edge of Wi-Fi <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a> right this minute, look for a device that supports Wi-Fi 6. Or, do yourself one better and find a Wi-Fi 6E-enabled device (assuming you live in one of the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wi-fi.org\/countries-enabling-wi-fi-6e\">countries where it\u2019s approved<\/a>). Namely, the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reviewgeek.com\/105353\/google-pixel-6-review-this-is-the-android-youve-been-looking-for\/\">Google Pixel 6<\/a> supports 6E, while the latest iPhones are limited to Wi-Fi 6. Certain high-end laptops are Wi-Fi 6E-enabled, like the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/ASUS-i7-1195G7-ScreenPad-Celestial-UX482EAR-DB71T\/dp\/B09F2S96XX\/?tag=hotoge-20\">ASUS ZenBook Duo 14<\/a>\u00a0available now, or the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reviewgeek.com\/113694\/dell-reveals-the-most-powerful-14-inch-laptop-to-date\/\">Dell Precision 5470<\/a> expected in April 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, you won\u2019t be able to take advantage of those devices\u2019 speeds without a router equipped for it.
