Men under 34 must be able to run the race in under three hours <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.baa.org\/races\/boston-marathon\/qualify\">to qualify<\/a>, and their female counterparts need to record a time of three and a half hours or better to participate.<\/p>\n<p>No Russian or Belarusian men have ever won the annual race since it began in 1897.
