She was 95.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/tv\/tv-news\/rae-allen-dead-the-sopranos-damn-yankees-1235126476\/\"><em>The Hollywood Reporter<\/em><\/a>, Allen passed away on Wednesday, April 6. Her death was confirmed by her representative Kyle Fritz, who told <em>THR<\/em>, \u201cI had the pleasure of representing Rae Allen for over 20 years. She [was] one the most gifted actresses I have ever had the pleasure of working with. I will be forever grateful to have been a part of her incredible journey.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Born Raffaella Julia Theresa Abruzzo on July 23, 1926, in Brooklyn, New York, Allen graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in 1947. She began her career on Broadway, first <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>earing in the George Abbott directed and written <em>Where\u2019s Charley?<\/em> Allen would go on to star in several more Abbott musicals, including <em>Call Me Madam<\/em> in 1950 and<em> The Pajama <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Game<\/a><\/em> in 1954.<\/p>\n<p>Her big break came in Abbott\u2019s <em>Damn Yankees<\/em> in 1955, the hit musical in which she played nosy reporter Gloria Thorpe. She would earn a Tony nomination for her performance and later reprised the role in the Oscar-nominated screen adaptation. From there, Allen featured in various <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TV series<\/a>, such as <em>The Untouchables<\/em> and <em>Profiles in Courage<\/em>, before returning to the movies in Arthur Miller\u2019s <em>The Tiger Makes Out<\/em> and Carl Reiner\u2019s <em>Where\u2019s Poppa?<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Allen would continue her TV work throughout the 1980s, landing a role as Judge Betty Small in the daytime soap opera parody, <em>Soap<\/em>. She also appeared in <em>The Greatest American Hero<\/em>, <em>Remington Steele<\/em>, and <em>Lou Grant<\/em>. Her later appearances included <em>Seinfeld<\/em>, <em>Head of the Class<\/em>, and <em>The Sopranos<\/em>, where she played the sister of Tony Soprano\u2019s mother, Livia.<\/p>\n<p>In more recent years, Allen has had guest roles in series such as <em>NYPD Blue<\/em>, <em>Grey\u2019s Anatomy<\/em>, and <em>Joan of Arcadia<\/em>.
