But the two may be sparring with ghosts as well as each other, friends and family members told The Post.<\/p>\n<p>The star-studded witness lists include Heard\u2019s former lover Elon Musk, actor James Franco, \u201cWandaVision\u201d star Paul Bettany, Ellen Barkin, representatives from Disney and Warner Bros. as well as the ACLU and the LAPD and at least one nurse.<\/p>\n<p>Among the evidence is previously unseen police bodycam footage from one of the ex-couple\u2019s altercations, as well as explosive text messages between Depp and Bettany.<\/p>\n<p>Depp and Heard will also take the stand. <\/p>\n<p>Each has an army of lawyers and publicists coming in with guns blazing after Depp <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2020\/11\/02\/johnny-depp-loses-london-libel-case-involving-ex-amber-heard\/\">lost his libel trial against the Sun<\/a> last summer, having sued the London paper for calling him a \u201cwife beater\u201d in a 2018 article. He said the charge was a lie and accused his \u201csociopathic\u201d ex-wife of all the violence in their marriage. [His lawyers] thought they\u2019d get a reasoned judgment in their favor and bring that back to the US to use in this trial. Instead they lost. So they are starting this case with a significant deficit and a much higher burden to meet.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At stake this time is Depp\u2019s contention that Heard defamed him in a <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/opinions\/ive-seen-how-institutions-protect-men-accused-of-abuse-heres-what-we-can-do\/2018\/12\/18\/71fd876a-02ed-11e9-b5df-5d3874f1ac36_story.html\">2018 Washington Post op-ed i<\/a>mplying he was a domestic abuser. The headline of Heard\u2019s piece read: \u201cI spoke up against sexual violence \u2014 and faced our culture\u2019s wrath. Some witnesses have already given testimony and will not <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ear in court. I will f\u2014k her burnt corpse afterwards to make sure she\u2019s dead.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Many who know the ex-couple, including LA private investigator Paul Barresi, can\u2019t understand why they are still going at it, suggesting both should move on and focus on restoring their careers and reputations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJohnny, and\u00a0Amber Heard,\u00a0should walk away,\u201d Barresi, who was once hired by Heard\u2019s team to look into Depp, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/thegeekbuzz.com\/the-basement\/johnny-depp-should-walk-away-a-conversation-with-hollywood-fixer-paul-barresi\/\">said last month.<\/a> \u201cThe time is long overdue for them to concentrate on their careers. It may be why both of them keep fighting it out and not letting it go.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Shadowing the Texas-born Heard and Depp, a native of Owensboro, Ky., are the mutual histories of trauma they carried with them long before they met one another.<\/p>\n<p>Amber once compared Depp\u2019s alleged violence and substance abuse issues to her dad, 71-year-old David Clinton Heard.  <\/p>\n<p>She testified during the London libel trial that, in March 2013, Depp went on a 36-hour cocaine and alcohol binge because he thought she was cheating on him. My dad struggled with alcohol abuse issues his whole life. And I didn\u2019t see myself as a victim,\u201d Heard wrote in her Washington Post essay. \u201cThen two years ago, I became a public figure representing domestic abuse, and I felt the full force of our culture\u2019s wrath for women who speak out.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFriends and advisers told me I would never again work as an actress \u2014 that I would be blacklisted. A movie I was attached to recast my role. She should know, she said, because she and Johnny often fought as kids and adults.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re of the same mind, we know what buttons to push,\u201d the relative said. \u201cI\u2019ve been up in his face and he\u2019s never touched me. I\u2019ve never known him to physically\u00a0hurt anyone.\u00a0He walks away. Johnny uses words and he will tell you off but he doesn\u2019t hit. That\u2019s not who he is.
