But this \u201cEnergy Saver\u201d also slows Edge a bit, hampering the browsing experience. That\u2019s why the latest Edge update takes a more proactive <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>roach to efficiency by improving the sleeping tabs feature.<\/p>\n<p>Microsoft Edge gained \u201csleeping tabs\u201d in late 2021 with the version 89 update. The feature is pretty simple\u2014if you aren\u2019t using a tab, it goes to \u201csleep,\u201d reducing the browser\u2019s overall CPU and RAM usage by 99% and 85% per tab (according to Microsoft, that is). Tab sleeping happens without the user\u2019s knowledge, as tabs reactivate the second you click them.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 1920px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-114365\" data-pagespeed-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.reviewgeek.com\/p\/uploads\/2022\/04\/079f4fb5.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1080\" src=\"\/pagespeed_static\/1.JiBnMqyl6S.gif\" onload=\"pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\" onerror=\"this.onerror=null;pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\"><span class=\"imagecredit\"><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.windows.com\/msedgedev\/2022\/04\/07\/sleeping-tabs-edge-100-improvements\/\">Edge<\/a><\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>But the Edge version 100 update takes things a step further. On average, 8% more tabs will fall asleep, as Edge now targets \u201cpages that are sharing a browsing instance with another page.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Yeah, Microsoft\u2019s wording is pretty weird here\u2014our educated guess, for what it\u2019s worth, is that the company is talking about browser\u00a0<em>contexts<\/em>, not instances. So, if two tabs of Google Docs are communicating to share system resources, one may be put to sleep. (We\u2019ll update this article when we know for sure.)<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the Edge Performance menu now features an \u201cestimated memory savings\u201d dial. This small graph shows you how many tabs are asleep, plus all the memory you\u2019re saving because of the feature.<\/p>\n<p>Microsoft Edge should update automatically. That said, you can <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/672726\/how-to-update-microsoft-edge\/\">force an update<\/a>\u00a0by pasting <code>edge:\/\/settings\/help<\/code>\u00a0in the Edge address bar and pressing enter.
