we still called it disco rhymes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The group soon moved to playing bigger clubs, signed with Sugar Hill records and released their debut single in 1979, \u201cSuperappin.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While Grandmaster Flash and Melle Mel were the band\u2019s biggest stars, Glover was the \u201cmore prolific\u201d musician \u2014 with a signature \u201cecho chamber\u201d style, Silk said.<\/p>\n<p>In 1980, the group churned out more hit songs including \u201cFreedom,\u201d \u201cBirthday Party\u201d and Flash\u2019s influential single \u201cThe Adventures of Grandmaster Flash on the Wheels of Steel.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Their biggest hits \u201cThe Message\u201d and \u201cWhite Lines (Don\u2019t Do It)\u201d came in 1982 and 1983, respectively \u2014 back when the Billboard charts didn\u2019t even have a category for hip hop.<\/p>\n<p>But behind the scene, some band members were struggling with cocaine addiction, according to the hip-hop <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> site\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/rockthebells.com\/articles\/the-kidd-creole-case\">rockthebells.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The band broke up in the mid-80s and by the time they reunited years later, the magic was gone, Silk said.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/Grandmaster-Flash-The-Furious-Five.jpg?w=1024\" alt=\"Rappers Shame, Kidd Creole, Rahiem and Broadway of the rap group &quot;Grandmaster Flash &amp; he died because of the doses of medicine they gave him.
