The move could allow Shopify\u2019s almost two million global merchants to accept Bitcoin payments denominated in USD. However the only merchant partner cited in Strike&#8217;s official release was <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/warrenlotas.com\/password\">Warren Lotas<\/a>, an LA based streetwear brand \u2014 and that site was down at the time of writing.<\/p>\n<p>Shopify is the world\u2019s 18th largest ecommerce company with about $4.6 billion in annual revenue according to market research site <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.macrotrends.net\/stocks\/charts\/SHOP\/shopify\/revenue\">Macrotrends<\/a>. Its service enables merchants to set up an online store in 175 different countries.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\u201cIf I wanna walk into a whole foods, a McDonald&#8217;s and use a different payment network, its this thing&#8230; As the merchant, you can receive in <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/BTC?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#BTC<\/a>, take Starbucks points, I don&#8217;t care.&#8221; &#8211; Jack Mallers <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/6sW4U6cvaJ\">pic.twitter.com\/6sW4U6cvaJ<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Bitcoin 2022 (@TheBitcoinConf) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TheBitcoinConf\/status\/1512174154757328909?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 7, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><br \/>\nThe Bitcoin 2022 official <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Twitter<\/a> account stated the integration was already live and quoted Mallers chiding the modern payments system which started in 1949 with the Diners Club card: <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cAny online merchant that uses Shopify can accept payments without the 1949 boomer network, receive it instantly, cash final, no intermediary no 3% fee.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>According to Mallers one of the main advantages to using Bitcoin via Lightning is that payments settle nearly instantly as opposed to the \u201clate, two to 15 day settlement\u201d he cited as a drawback of existing common electronic payment methods. He added that instant settlements help both consumers and merchants complete accounting work and know their exact balances faster.<\/p>\n<p>Mallers also revealed Strike\u2019s <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TheBitcoinConf\/status\/1512176018286596096\">partnership<\/a> with the Blackhawk payment network, reportedly the largest point of sale supplier in the world. The company <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/companies\/blackhawk-network\/?sh=a7a17c217094\">draws<\/a> $2.5 billion in annual revenue\u00a0 and its <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/blackhawknetwork.com\/\">website<\/a> states it has products at over 400,000 storefronts in 28 countries.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Related: <\/em><\/strong><strong><em>Samson Mow introduces new nation-state adoption for crypto in Bitcoin 2022<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Bitcoin 2022 is already a hotbed of buzz, not just for the Bitcoin \u2018Miami Bull\u2019 that was unveiled ahead of the opening events, but for Robinhood announcing the launch of its long-awaited crypto wallet to two million waitlisted clients.
