What that shutoff actually entails and how you achieve it, however, varies by manufacturer.<\/p>\n<p>The majority of cameras from companies like Nest, Ring, Arlo, Eufy, and other manufacturers support simple software-based toggles within the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>. You open the controlling app, select the camera, and you\u2019ll find a basic on-off toggle to set the state of the camera.<\/p>\n<p>Some platforms offer more sophisticated options including automation. Nest cameras, for example, can be <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/googlenest\/answer\/9246474?hl=en\">linked to the presence sensing settings of your Goggle Home<\/a>. Using the home\/away functionality, you can set the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/bestbuy.7tiv.net\/c\/156932\/671509\/10014?subId1=htg&amp;subId2=795512&amp;sharedid=&amp;u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.bestbuy.com%2Fsite%2Fgoogle-nest-cam-wired-snow%2F6473271.p%3FskuId%3D6473271\">Nest camera<\/a> in your living room to turn off if any member of your Google Home group is home\u2014and have it turn back on when they leave. Home and away presence is determined by user phones, not presence detection (like that offered by the Nest thermostat) for security purposes.<\/p>\n<p>Ring cameras <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/redirect.viglink.com\/?key=204a528a336ede4177fff0d84a044482&amp;u=https%3A%2F%2Fsupport.ring.com%2Fhc%2Fen-us%2Farticles%2F360036107792-Control-All-your-Ring-Devices-with-Modes\">support modes<\/a>. You can set the system to disarmed to disable motion detection, home mode to keep the outside cameras on, and away mode to turn them all on. Like the Nest system, Ring <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/redirect.viglink.com\/?key=204a528a336ede4177fff0d84a044482&amp;u=https%3A%2F%2Fsupport.ring.com%2Fhc%2Fen-us%2Farticles%2F360052805372-Geofence-in-the-Ring-App\">supports geofencing<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>One thing you\u2019ll quickly discover if you start poking around in the settings for your particular camera is that you might be able to toggle the device off via software settings, but you can\u2019t actually shut the device down. From a user-experience standpoint, this makes sense, of course. Anyone with allowed or illicit access to the system can simply flip the state of the camera to on as easily as you flipped it off.<\/p>\n<p>The simple solution? Cut the power to the camera when you\u2019re home to avoid any chance the camera could be on when you want it off. This isn\u2019t necessarily a viable solution for all battery-operated security cameras, as many wireless security cameras, such as those in the Arlo Pro lineup, will work when the battery is removed but the charging cable is still attached.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, we\u2019ll be the first to admit that crawling behind your couch to unplug your security camera when you go to work\u2014and then reversing the process every morning before you leave\u2014is more than a bit of a hassle.<\/p>\n<p>If you want to go the route of physically cutting the power to the camera we\u2019d recommend plugging the camera into <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/TP-Link-Kasa-Smart-Wifi-Plug\/dp\/B07RCNB2L3\/?tag=hotoge-20\">a smart plug from a reputable company like Kasa<\/a>.
