After BBQ Becky, Permit Patty, Golfcart Gail, and all the memes, we now have Retweet Rachel,\u201d he wrote. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cPublic advisory: don\u2019t call the cops on black people for no reason. Black people disagreeing with you on Twitter is not a crime.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the wake of the public spate, Boaler claimed to the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sfchronicle.com\/bayarea\/article\/California-math-wars-get-ugly-Accusations-of-17060072.php\">San Francisco Chronicle<\/a> that she wasn\u2019t threatening to go to the cops \u2014 and later apologized if it had been perceived that way.   <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wanted him to know that the posts by a teacher sharing my address had been sent to police\/lawyers, as a courtesy, because I thought it better that he did not engage with her,\u201d she told the outlet. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe changed that to say I was threatening him with police\/lawyers. I was not.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She added: \u201cI am really saddened by what has h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ened on Twitter \u2014 and the number of people who believed his claim that I was \u2018calling the cops on a black man\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wrote to him to invite him to chat, professor to professor, and am very sorry that my mentioning the police was ever perceived as a threat. That was never my intent.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nelson said he was wrongly accused of harassing Boaler online\u00a0because the screenshot he shared didn\u2019t contain private information \u2014 and instead was taken from a public record on a public website. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe accusations came immediately after a sentence invoking police and lawyers, a sequence that could only be read in context as a threat against me specifically,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese false allegations are very serious, and I do not take them lightly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After Nelson\u2019s tweets about Boaler started gaining traction this week, the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/stanfordreview.org\/boaler-professor\/\">Stanford Review<\/a>, a conservative campus publication, published an article calling her \u201cProfessor Karen\u201d and \u201cwoke.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nelson and Boaler\u2019s very public beef is rooted in a controversial debate over how to teach math to K-12 students across California. <\/p>\n<p>Boaler\u00a0is behind the effort to change the math curriculum in California in a bid to increase equity. <\/p>\n<p>Opponents, including Nelson, want the curriculum to include algebra 1 for eighth graders because they argue it will help struggling students when they reach high school.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat must not get lost in this troubling incident is the much larger issue of K-12 math education in this state: the California Math Framework (CMF) proposal is a misguided revision of state guidelines on math education that will negatively affect tens of millions of Californians, including my own two children,\u201d Nelson said amid the ordeal. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis pathway leaves students unprepared for quantitative four-year college degrees via a newly proposed pathway for teaching mathematics that lacks essential content.\u201d\n                        <\/p><\/div>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
