Just last month, they had to brace for more, as the ABC medical drama got some bad press when one of the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">series<\/a>\u2019 writers came under fire for alleged dishonesty.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, <em>Grey\u2019s<\/em> has had far bigger scandals in its 18-season history. Isaiah Washington (Preston Burke) was fired after an on-set altercation, Katherine Heigl (Izzie Stevens) had a very public falling out with <em>Grey\u2019s<\/em> creator Shonda Rhimes, and Patrick \u201cMcDreamy\u201d Dempsey (Derek Shepherd) famously caused \u201cHR issues,\u201d in the words of one former producer. Knight (George O\u2019Malley), who was not publicly out as gay at the time. In a subsequent interview with Larry King, Washington admitted that he used the F-word but denied using it to refer to Knight.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI said several bad words [to Dempsey],\u201d Washington claimed then (via <em><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/celebrity\/isaiah-washington-explains-why-he-used-slur\/\">People<\/a><\/em>). \u201cThere\u2019s no way you\u2019re going to treat me like the B-word, the P-word or the F-word.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"TR_Knight_and_Katherine_Heigl_air_their_grievances\"><\/span>T.R. Knight and Katherine Heigl air their grievances<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=KznlUmal-7M\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=KznlUmal-7M<\/a><\/p>\n<p>When Knight left the show at the end of Season 5, he told <em><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/ew.com\/article\/2009\/07\/24\/tr-knight-hangs-his-scrubs\/\">Entertainment Weekly<\/a><\/em> that he had experienced a \u201cbreakdown in communication\u201d with Rhimes and that he was surprised when George \u201cjust kind of dis<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>eared\u201d from the plot earlier in the season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy five-year experience proved to me that I could not trust any answer that was given [about George],\u201d he added. \u201dAnd with respect, I\u2019m going to leave it at that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Then, midway through the following season, Heigl made her own awkward exit from the series, after publicly complaining about long hours on the set and withdrawing her name from Emmy contention. Parriott had to come back to the production in Season 11 \u2014 after nearly a decade away \u2014 to serve as a \u201cveritable Dempsey whisperer\u201d amid reported diva-like behavior from the actor.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShonda needed an OG to come in as sort of a showrunner for fourteen episodes,\u201d Parriott said in the book (via <em><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/tv\/tv-features\/greys-anatomy-book-inside-patrick-dempsey-exit-1235012803\/\">The Hollywood Reporter<\/a><\/em>). \u201cThere were HR issues. It wasn\u2019t sexual in any way. He sort of was terrorizing the set. Some cast members had all sorts of PTSD with him. He had this hold on the set where he knew he could stop production and scare people. The network and studio came down and we had sessions with them. I think he was just done with the show. He didn\u2019t like the inconvenience of coming in every day and working. He and Shonda were at each other\u2019s throats.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Producer Jeannine Renshaw added, \u201cA lot of the complaining \u2026 I think Shonda finally witnessed it herself, and that was the final straw. Shonda had to say to the network, \u2018If he doesn\u2019t go, I go.\u2019 Nobody wanted him to leave, because he was the show. Him and Ellen. Patrick is a sweetheart. She claimed they told her they didn\u2019t need her since they had him. She also said that Dempsey was \u201cnever interested\u201d in negotiating together with her.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt one point, I asked for $5,000 more than him just on principle, because the show is <em>Grey\u2019s Anatomy<\/em> and I\u2019m Meredith Grey. They wouldn\u2019t give it to me,\u201d she added. \u201cAnd I could have walked away, so why didn\u2019t I? It\u2019s my show; I\u2019m the number one. I\u2019m sure I felt what a lot of these other actresses feel: Why should I walk away from a great part because of a guy? It starts with actors behaving badly, and then producers enabling them to behave badly. And, by the way, I\u2019m guilty of it, too. I saw squeaky wheels getting all the f\u2014king grease, so I was like, \u2018OK, that\u2019s how you do it,\u2019 and I behaved badly as well. And Denzel went ham on my ass,\u201d Pompeo said on the podcast. \u201c[Denzel] was like, \u2018I\u2019m the director. Don\u2019t you tell him what to do.\u2019 I was like, \u2018Listen, motherf\u2014ker, this is my show. This is my set. Who are you telling? According to the site, Finch has said that she was diagnosed with bone cancer, that she lost a kidney and part of a leg as part of a misdiagnosis, and that she suffered verbal and sexual abuse by a male director during her time on <em>The Vampire Diaries<\/em>. <em><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/tv\/tv-news\/greys-anatomy-writer-placed-on-administrative-leave-amid-hr-investigation-1235114283\/\">The Hollywood Reporter<\/a><\/em> later wrote that Disney\u2019s human resources and legal departments had launched an internal investigation of the claims.<\/p>\n<p>At the end of March, Finch announced a personal leave of absence from the show. \u201c<em>Grey\u2019s Anatomy<\/em> is one big-hearted, brilliant family,\u201d she said in part, per <em><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2022\/03\/elisabeth-finch-greys-anatomy-personal-leave-1234992287\/\">Deadline<\/a><\/em>. \u201cAs hard as it is to take some time away right now, I know it is more important that I focus on my own family and my health.
