Queen\u2019s sold me because it seemed to be a big school in terms of opportunity but small in the sense of community. It was also one of a handful of schools with a stand-alone bio<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a> program, which was important to me.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Describe some of your best experiences so far.<\/strong><br \/>Looking back, I realize I truly gained independence in Kingston. I pushed myself to try new things, bursting out of my self-induced bubble. There was also a moment in one of my tutorials where I looked at the people in my group and knew we would be friends. I strongly believe that Queen\u2019s has a space for everyone to find and form a community of friends.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Are you involved in extracurricular activities?<\/strong><br \/>One thing I love about Queen\u2019s is the extracurriculars. They can be an extension of academics, a way to develop skills and a great way to unwind. You can join one of many faculty governments or the Alma Mater Society (Canada\u2019s oldest student government). Queen\u2019s also has animal watching clubs, cause-based organizations and many magazines and publications.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What do you think of your professors?<\/strong><br \/>In first year, class sizes can be quite large. So students have to go out of their way to access support from professors, in office hours and via email. This dynamic shifts as early as second year, when some classes have only 40 students. In my experience, professors make a very strong attempt at engaging students. Teaching assistants at Queen\u2019s also play a significant part in supporting students. They lead smaller sessions, further develop the content taught by professors and are often approachable first points of contact.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What do you think of the school\u2019s administration?<\/strong><br \/>There is a student fear that when they enter university, they become a number. I believe it\u2019s possible to advocate for yourself at Queen\u2019s. Email the department; call the required administrative office. The staff are happy to help. On the flip side, it can be hard to navigate some offices or services. Different faculties at Queen\u2019s can have different policies and procedures, and they can be confusing when you take courses outside your faculty. Reserve extra time when you try to navigate these, particularly during course enrolment when undergraduate assistants become a saving grace.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is off-campus life like in Kingston?<\/strong><br \/>Kingston has a lot to offer students. There is the water nearby, which is bustling with activity in the summer. The city lives up to its name as the \u201cLimestone City,\u201d and the architecture hearkens back to Canada\u2019s past. Kingston also has an amazing nightlife and amazing restaurants.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>PROFILE<\/strong>: <strong>Queen\u2019s University | Kingston, Ont. | Founded 1841<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Best place to live:<\/strong> I really like Earl Street<br \/><strong>Best place to study:<\/strong> Jeffery Hall after 5 p.m., in the lounge near the lecture halls. Don\u2019t steal my spot!<br \/><strong>Best campus events:<\/strong> The Dan Studio <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Series<\/a>: they are fully student-run drama productions<br \/><strong>Best campus food:<\/strong> When flipit opened, I think I fell in love<br \/><strong>Best cheap lunch:<\/strong> Location 21<br \/><strong>Best pizza:<\/strong> Score Pizza<br \/><strong>Best place for a fancy dinner:<\/strong> Casa Domenico<br \/><strong>Best giveaway:<\/strong> Use the Queen\u2019s ExamBank to study for your finals. It is a <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">game<\/a> changer.<br \/><strong>Best bar for hanging out:<\/strong> The Brass Pub<br \/><strong>Best live music venue:<\/strong> The Mansion<br \/><strong>Best hangover breakfast: <\/strong>As someone who doesn\u2019t drink alcohol, I think Smoke\u2019s Poutinerie is an iconic choice<br \/><strong>Best place for a nap:<\/strong> A study room in the Bracken Health <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/sciencee\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"5\" title=\"Science\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Science<\/a>s Library.
