than Mercedes&#8221;<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h1>\n<div>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignleft\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Christian Horner revealed how Red Bull\u2019s battle with Ferrari differs from the team\u2019s 2021 clash with eight-time constructors championship winners Mercedes.<\/p>\n<p>Although Max Verst<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>en\u00a0defeated Lewis Hamilton\u00a0last year\u00a0in a championship battle that went down to the final lap of the closing race, the Silver Arrows took home the constructors prize.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s an awful lot of tension between Mercedes and Red Bull,\u201d team principal Christian Horner told The Post ahead of Sunday\u2019s Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[They\u2019re] based 10 miles up the road from our factory, and you have the engine side as well,\u201d he added, referencing the several engine personnel who recently left the team to join Red Bull Powertrains.<\/p>\n<p>The opening races of the 2022 season have seen Verstappen fighting wheel-to-wheel with Ferrari\u2019s Charles Leclerc, while Hamilton\u2019s Mercedes car has struggled to find pace.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s a respectful rivalry,\u201d Horner said of the Italian outfit. \u201cThere\u2019s not quite the same intensity.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"694\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/AUSTRALIA_FORMULA_ONE_GRAND_PRIX.jpg?w=1024\" alt=\"Max Verstappen of Red Bull Racing, left, speaks with team chief Christian Horner before the Formula One Grand Prix of Australia at Albert Park Circuit in Melbourne, Australia, on April 10, 2022.\" class=\"wp-image-21848733\"\/><figcaption>Max Verstappen, left, speaks with Christian Horner before the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Australia.<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">EPA<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>His comments came amid a disappointing result in Australia for the reigning world champion, who looked set to finish second behind Leclerc before having to retire his car with 20 laps to go.<\/p>\n<p>It was the Dutchman\u2019s second DNF in just three races.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe put so much into last year\u2019s world championship that we thought we were the last team to come onto the 2022 regulations,\u201d Horner explained. \u201cIt was obviously a concern for us that we would start the season on the back foot.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think Ferrari are very strong at the moment [but] Mercedes will solve their problems, I\u2019ve got no doubt about that. \u2026 Our main focus is on ourselves.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Horner later told reporters the result was \u201cdesperately frustrating,\u201d as the team fell back into third place in the constructors championship.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe can\u2019t accept DNFs, but we need to understand what the issue is and address it,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019d rather fix a fast car than try and make a reliable, slow one fast.
