Most landlords\u00a0would agree to that proposition,\u201d Napoletano said.<\/p>\n<p>King added, \u201cI poured my life savings\u00a0into Alleva. I\u2019m not walking away from it. We bought\u00a0Alleva to save it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She said the\u00a0landlord is refusing to take into account the devastating impact the lingering pandemic had on Alleva, as well as other\u00a0businesses in Little Italy. There was nobody coming here. No one expected the pandemic to go on that long,\u201d King said.<\/p>\n<p>During her tenure, King said\u00a0she updated Alleva\u2019s website and expanded take-out and catering service to try to compensate for the\u00a0loss of foot traffic.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThank god. I got a lot of new customers,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Before COVID, King planned to expand the premises and open a caf\u00e9 at the corner of Grand and Mulberry streets. They criticized the awarding of a $20 million grant for Chinatown that made no mention of Little Italy.<\/p>\n<p>In a gesture of fence-mending, Gov.
