class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h1>\n<div>\n<p>A wedding was cancelled for the third time when the venue caught fire as the groom welcomed his guests.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignleft\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>James Leggett was inside with attendees and bride Amy Heath was two minutes from leaving her hotel room when the museum went up in smoke.<\/p>\n<p>Police ran in to evacuate everyone after the roof caught fire at We The Curious in\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/bristol\/\">Bristol<\/a>\u00a0on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>The ceremony was cancelled but firefighters salvaged the untouched three-tiered wedding cake as well as old sentimental photos from the smoke and water-damaged building.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It is understood the wedding had already been delayed twice before due to Covid.<\/p>\n<p>Royal Mail HGV driver James said he was absolutely gutted, adding: \u201cWe are both heartbroken but the love and support of our friends and family was unreal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt ended up being a lovely, if unconventional, day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The nearby Bristol Hotel put on a room for the guests to enjoy the drinks and wedding speeches<\/p>\n<p>And pictures showed two firemen carrying in the rescued cake, with the bride later cutting it.<\/p>\n<p>James added: \u201cThe day was an absolute whirlwind of emotions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen we heard the pictures and the cake had been recovered, and then saw the firemen walk round the corner with it, was just indescribable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bridesmaid Grace Williams said: \u201cThank you to the amazing firefighters who salvaged the untouched wedding cake from the reception room from what should have been James\u2019 wedding had it not been for the fire.\u00a0<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"551\" photos with huge sentimental value too. Thank you!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bride Amy\u2019s sister Kathryn Bradfield called it \u201cthe best ending to an otherwise weird and bonkers day\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>She added: \u201cHer beautiful dream wedding was literally burning before her eyes.
