She doesn\u2019t really like to text message. She\u2019s not a phone person or into playing video games or anything like that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s gotten her pretty far.<\/p>\n<p>The 6-foot-1 Engstler, after a strong four-year college career \u2014 first at Syracuse and this past season at Louisville \u2014 is set to become the highest New York City native taken in the WNBA draft since Tina Charles went first overall to the Connecticut Sun in 2010. It was where she honed her craft, playing with and against boys after proving to them she belonged on the court. She developed toughness and an understanding of the game facing stronger opponents, and kept going back even as she became a top high school recruit and standout college player. Engstler\u2019s IQ stood out right away. She saw things before almost everyone else. Sometimes, it backfired. Others her age weren\u2019t as advanced.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHer vision on the court, her passing, she was like a quarterback on the court,\u201d Villaplana said. \u201cShe used to get frustrated with her teammates. I was like, \u2018it\u2019s not like they don\u2019t want to catch the ball. According to Villaplana, Engstler is the type of person who has to see things herself before realizing they can h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>en. Villaplana believed in Engstler more than she believed in herself.<\/p>\n<p>It wasn\u2019t until recently Engstler saw herself going high in the draft, following a huge NCAA Tournament. It will all take place in her hometown \u2014 at Spring Studios in the Tribeca section of Manhattan \u2014 and she will have her parents, Marilyn and William, Villaplana and Louisville associate head coach Stephanie Norman by her side.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s pretty amazing. I\u2019m extremely excited to see where I end up at the next level,\u201d Engstler said. \u201cI don\u2019t know where I\u2019m going to be drafted, but wherever it is, I hope I can bring energy and production to the team\u2019s organization and help them win.
