\n Will Ferrell and Rachel McAdams may not be competing, but an American version of the wildly-popular \u201cEurovision\u201d singing competition is coming to the United States in 2021.<\/p>\n

One of the world\u2019s most-watched singing contest \u2014 and subject of the new Netflix comedy, \u201cEurovision\u201d \u2014 has announced that \u201cThe American Song Contest\u201d will take place during 2021\u2019s holiday season reports CNN.<\/p>\n

And although Eurovision itself was canceled this year due to the coronavirus pandemic, officials said they will also bring back the competition next year.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Eurovision Song Contest\u2019s unique legacy dates back 65 years and its worldwide popularity is still rising,\u201d said Executive Supervisor, Martin \u00d6sterdahl.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s time for America to experience this spectacle, through its sister competition, the American Song Contest,\u201d \u00d6sterdahl said.<\/p>\n

\u201cLove of music is universal and celebration of music in different genres and styles can transcend boundaries and unite people,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are excited to have found the right partners to offer another series that our fans across the globe can fall in love with and to share this unique competition with the American people.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the American contest, state winners will compete in a series of qualifier competitions, \u201cleading to Semi-Finals and the ultimate primetime Grand Finale,\u201d the Eurovision website said.<\/p>\n

Competing acts will range from solo artists to bands with no more than six members, officials said. Judges will be US-based artists from a range of musical genres.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
