Horizon Worlds will charge a chunky 25% fee for sales.<\/p>\n<p>When you add that to the 30% platform fee for sales made on Meta Quest, the firm could take a total cut of up to 47.5%. That sounds particularly steep in light of Zuckerberg\u2019s <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/appleinsider.com\/articles\/21\/10\/28\/metas-zuckerberg-takes-shots-at-apple-app-store-fees-maintains-its-own\">criticisms of Apple\u2019s App Store charges<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Virtual_money\"><\/span>Virtual money<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The announcement came days after reports emerged that Meta plans to add virtual coins, tokens, and lending services to its <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>s.<\/p>\n<p>Sources <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/50fbe9ba-32c8-4caf-a34e-234031019371\">told the Financial Times<\/a> that the currency has been dubbed \u201cZuck Bucks\u201d by Meta staff, who \u201clovingly\u201d refer to their boss as \u201cEye of Sauron.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The coin is expected to resemble the in-app tokens used in Roblox and is unlikely to be based on the blockchain.<\/p>\n<p>Another potential idea is offering \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">social<\/a>\u201d or \u201creputation\u201d tokens as rewards for contributions, which will hopefully be closer to <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/reddit.zendesk.com\/hc\/en-us\/articles\/204511829-What-is-karma-\">Reddit\u2019s karma points<\/a> than <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/china-social-credit-system-punishments-and-rewards-explained-2018-4?r=US&amp;IR=T\">China\u2019s social credit system<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, proposals have been made to provide creator coins to influencers and offer more traditional lending services.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Metas_challenges\"><\/span>Meta\u2019s challenges<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The plans were revealed at a troubling time for the company.<\/p>\n<p>In February, Meta had a one-day stock crash that <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2022-02-03\/meta-set-for-200-billion-wipeout-among-worst-in-market-history\">may be the worst of all time<\/a>, after Facebook lost daily users for the first time in its 18-year history.<\/p>\n<p>The fallout from the Facebook Papers, competition from TikTok, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=pple%27s+new+App+Tracking+Transparency+facbeook&amp;oq=pple%27s+new+App+Tracking+Transparency+facbeook&amp;aqs=chrome..69i57j33i22i29i30.100722j0j9&amp;sourceid=chrome&amp;ie=UTF-8\">Apple\u2019s new app-tracking policy<\/a>, and <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2021\/10\/25\/22745381\/facebook-reality-labs-10-billion-metaverse\">a $10 billion annual splurge on the metaverse<\/a> have compounded the concerns.<\/p>\n<p>The new ideas for revenue streams may eventually arrest the decline, but the company\u2019s transition from social media to the metaverse seems some way from paying off.\n                        <\/p><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
