According to an April 12<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/alexkonrad\/2022\/04\/11\/midas-list-chris-dixon-crypto-capitalist\/?sh=3944bcfb6060\"> report<\/a> by the publication, Dixon turned the $350 million Crypto Fund I into realized and unrealized gains of $6 billion in 2021. That equates to an eye-watering 17.7x gain according to \u201csources with knowledge of the fund\u2019s financials.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Jack Dorsey may not want to give him props. But <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/cdixon?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@cdixon<\/a> and a16z&#8217;s $350M first crypto fund closed 2021 up 17.7x, a source tells <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Forbes?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@Forbes<\/a>. <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/bhorowitz?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@bhorowitz<\/a> predicts in 10 years, he&#8217;ll be considered &#8220;the best investor of his generation.&#8221;  <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/XdqwDWEcZ2\">pic.twitter.com\/XdqwDWEcZ2<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Alex Konrad (@alexrkonrad) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/alexrkonrad\/status\/1513851837467799557?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 12, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><br \/>\nBy comparison, the overall cryptocurrency market itself only managed a 200% gain from $780 billion on January 1, 2021, to $2.3 trillion by the end of December of the same year.<\/p>\n<p>a16z got into crypto early, leading a $25 million funding round into Coinbase in 2013. By the time Coinbase went public in April 2021, the firm held a 15% stake following 14 more funding rounds. The shares were worth $10 billion on the first day of trading resulting in a 60x return for the company. However, this was several years before Dixon\u2019s crypto fund was launched in June 2018 with $300 million raised in total at the time according to <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.crunchbase.com\/organization\/a16z-crypto\/investor_financials\">Crunchbase<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>There have been other notable investments by a16z including decentralized exchange Uniswap, the Avalanche blockchain, NFT creator D<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>er Labs, and Ethereum staking platform Lido, all of which have surged in valuation or collateral since. <\/p>\n<p>Dixon, who rarely appears for interviews, told Forbes:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cMy job is not to predict the future. My job is to be smart enough to know who the smart people are who will.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The company is currently raising funds for the world\u2019s largest crypto fund worth a whopping $4.5 billion.
