And how better to get to know each other than by sharing what led him to law enforcement over some hatchet-throwing?<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s exactly what h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ens at the end of McDermott\u2019s first <em>FBI: Most Wanted<\/em> episode. \u201cCovenant\u201d begins with Remy returning to New York, getting his car out of storage after four years, and the team (Roxy Sternberg\u2019s Sheryll Barnes is on maternity leave) barely having time to sneak a look at his file \u2014 with the Bureau for 23 years and graduated top of his class, spent time in the NYC field office, worked with violent crimes out of Philadelphia for six years, his last job was with the Vegas Fugitive Task Force \u2014 before they have to im<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>tely focus on the case. (He\u2019s done his research on them, too.)<\/p>\n<p>After the case, while out hatchet-throwing and drinking, Remy tells Kristin Gaines (Alexa Davalos), Hana Gibson (Keisha Castle-Hughes), and Ivan Ortiz (Miguel Gomez) about his brother, who died. \u201cI like talking about it,\u201d he says. His younger brother was 18 and had a baseball scholarship for Syracuse, when he went to Florida for spring break. His friends lost track of him, and he didn\u2019t return to the hotel one night. The cops brought someone in for questioning, but while he had a criminal record and had been seen hassling Remy\u2019s brother, the detectives said they didn\u2019t have enough to hold him and let him go. A couple hours later, he was found dead, in the suspect\u2019s tent. Remy never bought that his brother had been dead all that time and thinks he was still alive when the cops let the guy go.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChanged my life, you know,\u201d Remy says. \u201cAfter Mikey, I just got real. Three months later, I was at Quantico, and I\u2019ve been at the Bureau ever since.\u201d Ortiz says it\u2019s why he does what he does. \u201cYes, it is,\u201d Remy agrees, \u201cEvery bad guy I catch, I do it for him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For McDermott, \u201cit was important that there was a personal reason that he was doing what he was doing. It fuels me as an actor when I have that,\u201d he told press recently. \u201cI always like to find that few things that I can keep going back to and keep going back to and refreshing it for myself. And I think we found that with Remy when we talked about the backstory. He\u2019s on a journey, and I love playing that, to have that in my toolbox, every time I go out and do a case.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Showrunner David Hudgins says that adding that backstory \u201cwas a melding of the minds.\u201d The writers had already been discussing what drives Remy, and that was one of the first things Hudgins and McDermott talked about. \u201c<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We didn\u2019t want to come in and play it as this big, heavy, dark secret that\u2019s gonna always be underneath: What happened to this guy? Who is he?\u201d Hudgins added. \u201cI love the way at the end of this episode, he says, \u2018Look, I\u2019ll tell you about it. But at the same time, because he\u2019s on this journey, he can only go so far. That\u2019s gonna be a wonderful thing to play as he deepens over time. You never wanna start a character when he knows everything. I want this guy to evolve over time and to find out the secrets inside of himself that maybe that he doesn\u2019t even know.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In fact, it sounds like Remy\u2019s family plays a role in the arc Hudgins previously teased that will lead into the finale. \u201cThe story with Remy and his brother, and he mentioned an upcoming episode with his mother, there\u2019s more to that story that informs Remy,\u201d the EP previewed. \u201cThere\u2019s also some interactions with other team members that deepens the relationship as they all get to know each other, and then it will make sense \u2014 or at least it will reach a crescendo by our season finale.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>During his first episode with the team, the others witnessed him bring the woman behind a cult they\u2019d stumbled upon while investigating homicides tied to a young teen and her older boyfriend into a hotel room to confront her. We won\u2019t be seeing that every episode, according to Hudgins. \u201c<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We always try to vary what we call the takedowns and act 4 on the show,\u201d he explained. \u201cin this particular case, it felt totally organic to the story.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He pointed out the moment in this episode where Remy watches the preacher\u2019s video and cocks his head. \u201cY<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ou can see the thought process going through Remy\u2019s brain, and you\u2019re wondering what this guy is thinking, and by the time we get to the end of the episode, I think he\u2019s figured out \u2014 at least the intention of the writing was he\u2019s figured out \u2014 who this woman is, what she was all about. She\u2019s gotten away with essentially reinventing and conning herself her whole life. And what he\u2019s saying to her is, \u2018I see you, I know exactly who you are. You\u2019re full of s**t. \u2026 You made this one mistake. That\u2019s why we\u2019re here.\u2019 I thought it was a moment for Remy to really shine.\u201d<br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p>While cases won\u2019t necessarily get under Remy\u2019s skin like this one did, McDermott likes that \u201chis justice meter is maybe a little bit different than everybody else\u2019s. I go back to the mission. Remy is on a mission, and that brings passion when you\u2019re on a mission. This is not just police work for him.
