To put it simply, they promise lower cost, more power, longer range, faster charging times, and improved safety over their currently in-house cousins.<\/p>\n<p>For this reason, more and more automakers are betting on solid-state, seeing them as the next big breakthrough in EV battery <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>But we have a question: how close are we to seeing them in the real world? And what are auto companies doing to make it h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>en?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Volkswagen: <\/strong>The German brand <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.volkswagenag.com\/en\/news\/2018\/06\/volkswagen-partners-with-quantumscape-.html\">has teamed up with QuantumScape<\/a>, which plans to start <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">series<\/a> production of its solid-state battery cells <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.quantumscape.com\/resources\/blog\/a-discussion-of-quantumscapes-battery-technology-performance-results\/\">in 2024<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Toyota: <\/strong><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/toyota-panasonic-batteries-idUSKBN27C0XD\">Working with Panasonic<\/a>, the Japanese automaker expects to sell vehicles with solid-state batteries by <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=LmbbBfXWMhE\">around 2025<\/a>. Surprisingly, the first Toyotas to receive the new batteries will be hybrids \u2014 not EVs.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=LmbbBfXWMhE\">According to Grill Pratt<\/a>, chief scientist and head of Toyota\u2019s Research Institute, that\u2019s because hybrids\u2019 smaller battery packs will reduce the cost of expensive solid-state batteries. On top of this, they provide a better test bed for the new tech, given that they need to charge and recharge more often.<\/p>\n<p><strong>BMW and Ford: <\/strong>Both brands have invested heavily in Solid Power. It plans to develop its own demonstration line, hoping to make it operational by the spring of 2024.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mercedes-Benz:<\/strong> Teaming up with <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/prologium.com\/\">Prologium<\/a>, the German brand plans to integrate solid-state batteries in passenger vehicles <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/group.mercedes-benz.com\/company\/news\/220127-prologium.html\">in the second half of the decade<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">General<\/a> Motors: <\/strong>The company is currently <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/plants.gm.com\/media\/us\/en\/gm\/news.detail.html\/content\/Pages\/news\/us\/en\/2021\/oct\/1005-batterycenter.html\">building its Wallace Battery Cell Innovation Center<\/a> in Michigan, which will focus on the development of its Ultium lithium-ion batteries and the acceleration of new battery tech, including solid-state.<\/p>\n<p>To be fair, solid-state batteries are still at an early stage of development and testing \u2014 but the investment is plain to see. The technology has already gained impressive traction and I\u2019m optimistic that, by 2040, most of our EVs will be solid-state.
