If it\u2019s not paid within 30 minutes we\u2019re going to shut your power down,&#8217;\u201d Hernandez recounted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThirty minutes! And I bit the hook,\u201d he admitted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou fell for that?\u201d Cohen asked incredulously.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI called the number like an idiot, and I\u2019m listening to this guy, and then finally I snap,\u201d Hernandez said as Cohen cracked up.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"\/>\n<p>\u201cI go \u2018I know you are a monopoly. I\u2019ve been here for 27-plus years. I pay on time. And you\u2019re going to send a guy out and shut my power down in 30 minutes? That is baloney!,\u201d he said, censoring his language for TV.<\/p>\n<p>Hernandez avoided striking out in disgrace after calling a trusted financial professional, he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI called my banking institution \u2026 she just said \u2018Keith, no, no, no.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI had to pay through Zelle. And I never heard of Zelle. You\u2019ve got to be kidding me.\u2019 Then, it kind of sunk in.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hernandez told listeners he was vulnerable to the racket because it was early in the morning, and he was only on his first cup of coffee.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou know unfortunately these kind of scams often get perpetrated on senior citizens like yourself.
