\n Maybe some British kids will get the message about social distancing with the finger-wagging warning of \u201cdon\u2019t kill granny.\u201d<\/p>\n

Public health officials in the city of Preston, population 4.5 million, adopted the slogan after they noticed a spike in COVID-19 among young adults.<\/p>\n

City Council leaders hammered home the point after they saw video footage of hundreds of partiers in a nightclub \u2014 standing shoulder to shoulder, Britain\u2019s The Sun news<\/a>paper reported.<\/p>\n

The council\u2019s chief executive, Adrian Phillips, told the BBC: \u201cI know our director of public health has said \u2018don\u2019t kill granny\u2019 to young people to try and focus the message.\u201d<\/p>\n

More and more young adults are being infected with the coronavirus, but are likely to be asymptomatic or have fewer symptoms than older patients, Phillips said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey do take it back to their household,\u201d he said, \u201cand the community spread we are seeing we believe in many cases are young people taking it home and catching the virus.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
