The Tesla CEO added that under his prospective leadership, Twitter should be \u201creluctant to delete things\u201d and permanently ban accounts, but would endeavor to encourage free speech according to respective countries&#8217; laws.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA top priority I would have is eliminating the spam and scam bots and the bot armies that are on Twitter,\u201d said Musk. \u201cThey make the product much worse. If I had a Dogecoin for every crypto scam I saw, we\u2019d have 100 billion Dogecoin.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.cointelegraph.com\/uploads\/2022-04\/4148041d-5bce-4e8e-b183-ad008254eb02.png\"><figcaption style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Elon Musk speaking to TED curator Chris Anderson in Vancouver<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>According to a Wednesday filing with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission, Musk <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sec.gov\/Archives\/edgar\/data\/0001418091\/000110465922045641\/tm2212748d1_sc13da.htm\">offered<\/a> to purchase Twitter\u2019s shares \u2014 aside from the roughly 9% that he already owns \u2014 for $54.20 per share, which represented a 38% premium over the stock\u2019s closing price as of April 1.\u00a0At the time of publication, shares of Twitter are priced at $45.08, having risen more than 30% in the last 30 days.<\/p>\n<p>Reactions to the Tesla CEO\u2019s potential ownership of the popular social media platform were mixed. Many lauded the move as a step in the right direction for free speech while others pointed to Musk\u2019s own seemingly immature behavior on Twitter as well as his immense wealth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt takes some pretty impressive mental gymnastics to associate any type of \u2018freedom\u2019 with the richest man in the world initiating a hostile takeover and forcing one of the largest public social media platforms private,\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ummjackson\/status\/1514634090049273859\">said<\/a> Jackson Palmer, the co-creator of Dogecoin.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Related: <\/em><\/strong><strong><em>What Elon Musk\u2019s investment could mean for Twitter\u2019s crypto plans<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The price of Dogecoin (DOGE)\u00a0was largely unaffected by both Musk&#8217;s Twitter stock buy as well his offer to purchase the firm.
